Research Paper On Louis Chevrolet
On December 25, 1878 Louis Chevrolet was born in the Bernese Jura region of La Chaux-de-Fonds Switzerland. When he was growing up he learned to repair and race bicycles. As a teenager he worked for a wine cellar, he invented a wine pump that made the process of making it even faster, it was used in that region for many decades. Louis went on to build his own bikes called Frontenac. That’s we’re he got the name for the car he made later own in his life. Louis eventually met William K. Vanderbilt a racer from America while he was on vacation in Europe. Vanderbilt was looking for a mechanic for his racing cycle and after he seen Louis’s skills he invited him to America to work for him. He eventually left that job and in 1902 he began working for

He designed a small luxurious touring car. The new company, started in a Flint garage as a cooperative venture between a Belgian-born race-car driver named Louis Chevrolet and William Durant, entrepreneur and the founder of General Motors. The first Chevrolet was priced at $2,500. He instinctively knew that a high-style yet affordable car could challenge the domination of the utilitarian Ford Model T. Chevrolet joined into GM in 1917 as the car maker’s low priced brand and close to 10 years the Chevy became the number one selling car in the United States.
In 1922 William S. Knudsen Leaves the ford motor company as head manufacturing to become Chevys production and later on vice president of operation. Later on in 1924 a Chevrolet plant is opened in Copenhagen, Denmark. It's the first Chevy plant outside the U.S. In 1927 Chevrolet overtakes Ford with sales of more than 1 million vehicles. A year in which the three-millionth Chevy rolled off the line. They earned more than $75 million during that year.
In 1929 Chevrolet introduces the 6 cylinder engine for the price of a four cylinder displacing 194 cubic inches and making 46 horsepower. Later on Louis became a lead mechanic working on the Chevrolets until he was forced into retirement due to an illness. Chevrolet died on a visit to Detroit, Michigan from his retirement home in Florida on June 6, 1941. He was buried next to his brother close to the Indianapolis Speedway at the Holy Cross
