Research Paper On Haus Grissom
My astronaut is Gus Grissom. What interests me about Gus Grissom is that he had such a normal life. He grew up in a small town with three siblings, and was an average student in school. His school principal thought of him as "an average solid citizen who studied just about enough to get a diploma." He didn't study that much and didn’t have any education or school goals. Even though he wasn't the best student, he joined the military, got a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and then joined the air force again. He was a great pilot for the air force but ended up as an astronaut for NASA. He got from being an average student to an astronaut by joining the military and getting a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. After he got

Marcus Aurelius was born on April 20, 121 AD into a family of royalty. His uncle and adoptive father, Antoninus Pius, was the emperor of Rome. Aurelius, too, was trained from birth to be a great ruler like his father. At age eleven, he dedicated himself to religion, although he considered philosophy to be the "true, inward" religion, one which did not require ceremonies necessary in others. He was appointed by Emperor Hadrian to priesthood in 129. The Emperor also supervised his education, which was with the best professors of literature and philosophy of the time. From his early twenties, he deserted his other studies for philosophy. In 161, Marcus Aurelius ascended the throne and shared his imperial power with his adopted brother Lucius…

I went from being a shop owner to being a slave in the Roman the town I lived in. Becoming a slave changed how I viewed life. When I was a shop owner, I had a feeling of accomplishment, but now, I cry myself to sleep as I was constantly in pain. I usually was a slave for a Roman shop owner carrying out the everyday business transactions, but after the Roman city of Rome burned down, I was put in a group of other slaves whose sole purpose was to be unskilled labor for the construction of Domus Aurea or “The Golden House," (Anderson 1997 52) for the Roman emperor Nero Claudius Caesar Drusus Germanicus (Adkins 1994 21) who we normally refer to as “Nero.” Once I was put into this group of slaves, I experienced many beatings and had to do a lot of grueling work (Anderson 1997 124). My main job was to assist another slave who was a bricklayer. I had to haul the bricks up the Palatine hill along with having to carry the cement and bricks up the shaky ladder to another slave who was a bricklayer.…

Thomas Harriot’s Brief and True Report paints a picture for the englishman back in England of the natives residing in coastal North America. Harriot argues that that natives are not as hostile and unwelcoming as portrayed, but that they “shall have cause both to fear and love us”. Brief and True Report tells of defenceless and god fearing people who have the potential to become trade partners, civilized, and Christians. Thomas Harriot’s tone and argument seem to be a pushback against unflattering rumors about the native american population. Thankfully Harriot was of sound mind to record his interactions and observations with the natives so that he may inform his fellow Englishmen before interactions could become hostile.…

There were a lot of requirements in the selection process for being an astronaut. First, you had to be young – between the ages of 25 to 40. Also, you couldn’t be too tall – shorter than 5’11” – or you wouldn’t fit in the spacecraft. You also had to have so much “air time” which I had accomplished in being in the Wars. Also, there were many hard tests both mentally and physically. NASA tested 508 astronauts and I was one of the seven selected. I was so excited and proud to be a part of that program for my Country.…

I realized that what I wanted wasn’t to be an astronaut, but discovery. My love for Treasure Island, wasn’t because it was about space, but because of its themes of adventure, exploration, and discovering the unknown. At around the same time, I learned that being an astronaut was not the only way to be involved. I learned about aerospace engineering and more specifically astronautical engineering. If I couldn’t be an astronaut, the second best thing would be to design the rockets. In fact, being an engineer would be even better. A satellite can go much farther than any astronaut could hope to go. Through engineering, I would be able to discover so much more than I could as an…
