This video shows the experiment done using a balloon. After setting the paper on fire with the matchsticks, the oxygen in the bottle was used up. When the balloon was placed on top of the bottle, the air inside created a vacuum sucking the balloon in on its own. it is shown that burning paper heats the air trapped inside the bottle which caused the heat to expand. After around 10-20 seconds, the flame/fire inside the bottle died, causing the air trapped inside to cool. This resulted in lower forces inside the bottle, leaving the outside with more force.
