Not only have women with tattoos been criticized but also women with piercings. Females with belly piercing give others the idea that they are spoiled females that show off their miraculous bodies. Due to this they have been sexually accused by men. Jenny Alvarez, nursing student, has stated that she been assaulted by men,” I will be at the beach and men will walk by me whistling and calling me names.” She also said that she does not do it for attentions to show off her piercings but she has it to look cute on her belly button. Many employers get the wrong image of a female with piercings and tattoos. Stacy Alvarado, a child development teacher, describes one day where she has to go to an interview and cover up her tattoos and take out her piercings, so the employers do not think bad of her. Despite of getting the employment she still feels like she is being physically accused since many parents look at her inadequately due to her piercings and tattoos. Perhaps for her profession, many parents do not understand her, but there are others outside that understand these groups of women. At first they get judged because of their work of art, but throughout the time when the people get to know the real female in them, many of the people see that these females are like any other female working hard to become someone good in life. With all these exaggerated stereotypes and misconceptions people get confused on what is telling the truth about this group of females. Females with tattoos and piercings are women that fight for what they feel is right and to show others that the perspective they have about females with tattoos and piercings is wrong. The ink on their body is a part of who they are it is a sense of ownership of their own body. Piercings for females is a sense of fashion that will make them feel pretty and help them get their sense of steam back. Females who the combinations of both tattoos and piercings feel like they are one of a kind, unique, so they feel like the more they get the more they will be noticed.It is not about rebellion, but about having independence. The group of females either have a profession or are on their way to get a profession, they are not what others say they are; but more of females succeeding in life.
