Research Paper On Bursting Balloon
Bursting Balloon
Why do balloons make a loud ‘POP’ noise when they burst? What is the motion of the bursting balloon?

When the balloon is blown up and expanded, the rubber stretches causing the shape to differ from the original. Under this condition, the balloon can withstand a very high elastic energy pressure. When the balloon that has expanded is poked by a sharp object, the balloon explodes and splits into rubber fragments. This phenomenon is caused by the hole on the surface of the rubber, which expands and forms a long slit. The bursting balloon which creates the small hole then stretches into a long slit, requires a small amount of elastic potential energy that has been stored by the balloon. The rest of the remaining energy is transformed

If it moves along a string it focuses the power from the balloon's air in a single direction, generating more concentrated thrust and helping it travel as far as possible in one direction. For the balloon's velocity, if the balloon is moving rightwards, then the velocity is moving rightwards also. The amount of speed is the rate at which an object covers distance. A fast-moving object has a high speed and covers a large distance in a short amount of time. A slow-moving object that has a low speed will cover a small amount of distance in the same amount of time. The force that moves the balloon to create velocity is the thrust when you let go of the balloon's mouth piece. Thrust can be created from your hand or controller. The movement that pushes the balloon forward will make it go farther. The air that shoots out from the balloon's mouth also pushes the balloon forward and creates some velocity. The change in velocity depends on the mass of the object. A force will cause a change in velocity and a change in velocity will generate a force. If there is no force acting on an object then the object will maintain a constant velocity. When velocity is zero the object remains at…

For this quarter we started off with a bottle rocket project. This project lead us to become more educated with Newton's laws of motion. The bottle rockets also lead you to learn about mass, force, and acceleration. As you know the first law of motion is that if objects at rest will stay at rest, or objects in motion will stay in motion, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Well in order for the rocket to lift off it will need force applied to it. It is required to add water for your rocket and you don't want to add too much because then the rocket will be too heavy. As you told us in class the best thing to do is add a little at a time and test it. You want your rocket to be stable. The height and weight do matter but test as mush as possible to be sure it will work.…

“Blown to Bits” can be taken many ways. For example, you could translate it as the physical meaning of Blowing the system to Bits. Also you could think of the technological system spreading into all parts of the world, or the mass communication of bits. I think of it as the aspect of technology collapsing on itself. Flaws with the system can be catastrophic to the world if you think about it. One mistake and the whole world could change. With all the security and precautions we have, i think the system will not be “blown to bits”. Ithink the title does convey the overall message, and fits the book. “We liken them to dynamite exploding or water flowing”..... “ We talk about two computers agreeing on some bits, and about people using burglary…

If the air pressure within a ball is increased, then the gas within the ball becomes more elastic. Elasticity enables an object to release energy that is received during a collision. This is called an elastic collision. When the ball is kicked, the gas within the ball compresses and then expands, and some heat and sound will also be generated. Therefore, the more pressure of the gas within the ball, the more efficient the compression and expansion of the gas becomes. However, with a slightly deflated ball there is less elasticity, so instead, the ball will absorb most of the force from the kick just by becoming deformed. Before an Australian Football League game, each football used is inflated to 62 - 76 kPa. This is used as the regulation air pressure of a football for the AFL. Studies conducted by Dan Whiteman, a 14 year old boy, have shown that a ball inflated to any pressure under or over the recommended pressure will decrease the distance that the football will travel through the air. This same theory also applies toward the bouncing of balls. The more pressure that is held within the ball, then the higher that the ball will bounce when compared to a deflated ball.…

    Parachute EEI

This experiment was conducted in order to use a parachute to reduce the collision force by decreasing the acceleration of which the water balloon is traveling causing it not to burst. When the balloon was dropped without a parachute the force of gravity was pulling it towards the ground therefore causing it to accelerating at such a fast rate that when it hit the ground the amount of force it hit the ground with was so great that the balloon popped. However when the balloon was dropped with a parachute, after deploying, it would provide wind resistance and therefore cause the balloon to decelerate causing it to move at a lower velocity causing it to hit the ground with a much lower force therefore causing it to supposably not pop. When discussing physics and parachutes Newtons three laws of motion must be considered. Newton’s first law of motion states, every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it. Newton’s second law of motion states, the relationship between an object's mass (m), its acceleration (a), and the applied force (F) is F = ma. Newton’s third and final law of motion states, for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Before the experiment was conducted it was predicted that if a parachute that was round in shape was made the balloon would not pop as round shaped parachutes provide a lot of air resistance therefore causing the balloon to travel at a low velocity causing it to hit the ground with little force therefore the balloon would not pop. It was also predicted that if the parachute was made too close to the balloon the balloon would pop as there would not be enough air resistance to keep the balloon traveling at a slow enough velocity to keep it from popping.…

The summer before my freshman year in high school I was full of a newfound confidence that can only be found in a fourteen-year-old just promoted from middle school. I was going to be high schooler, an “older” kid, a top dog. I spent most of that summer at my best friend’s house. So much that I bet the neighbors probably thought I lived there. Every day I walked the half mile to get there and we’d decide what adventure to have that day. On one especially hot day we decided to have a water balloon fight as a way to cool off like any normal teenager who doesn’t have a pool available. Yet, what started as a water fight quickly evolved into throwing water balloons at passing cars. We filled up our plastic cooler, lugged it out to…
