Research Paper Genre
Research paper genre is a genre that contains different types of essays. It is mostly used by students of all ages in school, or it could be used for a job. And it targets all sorts of different audience. Research paper could be a topic like for example cultural relativism which is an essay that falls under the research paper. What is so important for this type of genre is that research paper is something that you have to find yourself like for example if you want to find out more about the topic cultural relativism you would have to use different research methods to write the paper about that topic it also could be any topic of your interest of something that you have to do for your class or for your job. And what is so beneficial of the research paper is that you find out information and learn more about the subject. Because you have to use different references and different methods to find out more about that topic. Like for example you have to research books that talks about that topic, look it up online or in certain situations you may have to survey some people and their opinion would be included in that research paper. What stood out to me about the research paper genre from other genres is that in research paper I would learn a lot more about a topic like cultural relativism that I’m really interested to learn about than if would’ve choose for example to free write. What is so interesting about research paper is that every time you choose a topic to research about you always have to use a lot of methods to make up that paper. Every topic requires different work different research. And to me that is really interesting and really beneficial because you really have to dig deep in that topic and try to find as much information about it as you can and I don’t think for example only looking at a newspaper article would really give you all the answers you are trying to find about that topic and for that reason a lot of teachers like to ask their student to write

Davis and Shadle state, “In this essay, we will present a series of alternatives to the modernist research paper: the argumentative research paper, the personal research paper, the research essay, and the multi-genre/media/disciplinary/ cultural research paper” (418). Davis and Shadle also have techniques by using rhetorical situations. The described situations help the reader understand how to create a successful research paper and useful tips on what and what not to do. Davis and Shadle include many different examples from other researchers in their article. This helps back up the information that they are trying to reach out to the readers. They also help by including ways of writing that I can make connections with as well as other readers like me. For example Posusta, a tutor at UCLA, comes up with ways for a researcher to make the process work well in a short period of time for procrastinators rather than insisting on using a longer process. Davis and Shadle further his purpose by explaining, “To better invent, Posusta had to learn the academy’s customs, rules, and practices” (419).…

In his article “The Loss of The Creature,” Walker Percy presents the case that people or so-called “creature’s” experiences are most often trivial because of our actions. Percy believes we can only truly enjoy these experiences if we leave the old ways of thinking . Only then can we see the true beauty of the experience. Percy gives three examples to prove his point. His first example describes a tourist’s plans to go see the Grand Canyon. Oftentimes, tourists have preconceived expectations about the wonder, and feel that they are let down with a dreary sight rather than the things they have fantasized. The second example Percy uses is of a couple who, while wandering through Mexico looking for an “unspoiled” place to get lost in. They stumble upon an Indian village and live with the locals for a little while. After returning home, they tell their friends that they had an experience better than they expected. The third example Percy uses is that of a biology teacher who gave his students a dogfish to dissect. The students look at the dogfish as another specimen to be dissected for a grade instead of trying to learn about it as a piece of unexplored creation. In his article “The Loss of The Creature,” Walker Percy attempts to show how in our experiences we do not really see what we think we see. I believe he was correct, however, I did not always believe this. When I first read “The Loss of The Creature,” it did not make sense to me. After rereading it and thinking about what Percy said, I started to understand.…

Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, best known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, has written many novels, poems, and short stories in his lifetime but his most famous for his children 's “nonsense” novels: Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel Through the Looking Glass. His works, especially the two mentioned, have influenced countless readers over the years, and references to his writings can be found in every type of media from the song “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane to the the Matrix trilogy. While both books are intended for a child 's entertainment, they are full of symbolism and hidden critique. His clever wordplay, use of logic and reasoning, and incredible imagination are all trademarks of his style of writing, which is often referred to as “literary nonsense.” To readers with little experience with Carroll 's work, this term seems to perfectly describe Carroll 's confusing and often rambling style, but when more thoroughly inspected, it becomes obvious that this “nonsense” has a far deeper meaning.…

When choosing classes a person normally does not choose a class that they will regret or even cringe when thinking about the class. However, when you have no other choice and are required to take such a class then you must complete it. When I started this class I hated writing, my brain is just not set up for this and with attention deficit disorder my brain starts to wander. I am not going to use that as excuse or even a crutch I have had it long enough that I know how to work through it. Now that I have taken Writing 101s I have leaned a lot of structure and discipline and my writing has come a long way even though it is not perfect. I still…
