If the court rules that the union has no duty to represent these former employees, they cannot pursue their grievance against the company. The court’s ruling is following the guidelines mentioned in the contract, which states, “that laid-off employees would accrue continuous service credit for two years and would retain continuous service credit for an additional five-year period. One of the benefits was a commitment by the company that these laid-off employees would be offered future employment opportunities with the company in the event positions opened up.” This result is fair towards the company because the company did rehire some employees but not all. The company is not obligated to rehire everyone it laid-off and did follow negotiated contract to provide future employment if such opportunity came up.…

The play A Streetcar Named Desire revolves around Blanche DuBois; therefore, the main theme of the drama concerns her directly. In Blanche is seen the tragedy of an individual caught between two worlds-the world of the past and the world of the present-unwilling to let go of the past and unable, because of her character, to come to any sort of terms with the present. The final result is her destruction. This process began long before her clash with Stanley Kowalski. It started with the death of her young husband, a weak and perverted boy who committed suicide when she taunted him with her disgust at the discovery of his perversion. In retrospect, she knows that he was the only man she had ever loved, and from this early catastrophe evolves her promiscuity. She is lonely and frightened, and she attempts to fight this condition with sex. Desire fills the emptiness when there is no love and desire blocks the inexorable movement of death, which has already wasted and decayed Blanche's ancestral home Belle Reve.…

Shakespeare did a great job in making the historical ruler Julius Caesar and the Shakespeare Julius sound like the same person. Julius Caesar full name is Gaius Julius Caesar and his parents are Aurelia and Gaius Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar was one of the most memorable rulers of ancient Rome. He helped all the nobles get their own land and jobs by redistributing everything. I believe he helped the nobles because his family was always wealthy so he knew how the nobles felt. In 85 BCE, Caesar’s father pasted way. A couple years after his father died he had gotten married had children and been a part of a military legate, where he was awarded the civic crown.…

In her 1963 book, A Feminine Mystique, Betty Friedan wrote, “As she made the beds, shopped for groceries, matched slipcover material, ate peanut butter sandwiches with her children, chauffeured Cub Scouts and Brownies, lay beside her husband at night—she was afraid to ask even of herself the silent question—‘Is this all?’”1. As a result of the constantly glaring of the classic “housewife” from magazines such as Good Housekeeping and members of the government such as Governor Adlai Stevenson, women in the 50s were expected to maintain a reserved lifestyle, which led to lonely dissatisfaction and an internal yearning for a different routine.…

Throughout time the Greek community has had to put up with the assumptions that society has about them. Stereotypes include partying until the break of dawn, drinking like there’s no tomorrow, and hazing their new members in order as a requirement to join. Watching movies over the years that are about Fraternities and Sororities put that image about Greek Life into my head, because most movies interpret them to act a certain way. Yet not many know that Greeks each have their own philanthropy, a charity of their choice, to which they raise money for. Is Hollywood part of the reason why Greeks have fallen under that cliché? This is why I decided to look further into this topic due to the fact that I wanted to see if Hollywood has this ability to have a negative outlook on Greek Life.…

The concept is to develop an approach based on wavelet transform for the evaluation of harmonic contents of power system waveforms. This new algorithmic approach can simultaneously identify all harmonics including integer, non-integer and sub-harmonics. This algorithm presents features that characterize the power quality disturbances from recorded voltage waveforms using wavelet transform. The discrete wavelet transform has been used to detect and analyze power quality disturbances. The disturbances of interest include sag, swell, outage and transient. Waveforms at strategic points can be obtained for analysis, which includes different power quality disturbances. The wavelet has been chosen to perform feature extraction. The outputs of the feature extraction are the wavelet coefficients representing the power quality disturbance signal. Wavelet coefficients at different levels reveal the time localizing information about the variation of the signal. A wavelet packet transform (WPT) method is introduced as a useful tool for detecting, classifying and quantifying the RMS of testing waveform and harmonic ratio value. The proposed approach can measure the distribution of the RMS of testing waveform with respect to individual frequency bands directly from the wavelet transform coefficients. The harmonic ratio value relative to basic frequency band can be calculated as well. The method is evaluated by its application to both analytical waveform and actual testing waveform data.…
