Mother of the Towns: Makkah Makkah is the city where the House of Allah, Al-Ka’bah, is erected. Allah Almighty mentions in His Book ,Al-Qur’an:
“ Verily! The first Sanctuary appointed for mankind was that at Makkah, a blessed place and a guidance for the worlds.”
It refers to the time when the Father of Mankind, Adam (Be His blessings upon him) was sent to the earth and he laid foundation of Makkah by constructing Baitullah (Al Ka’bah) on the ground where it is erected today.
Abu Zar Ghifari (May Allah be pleased with him) reports that he asked the the Holy Prophet (Be His blessings and peace upon him) : “ Which mosque was constructed first of all on the earth?” he replied: “ Masjid Al Haram (Baitullah).”
Imam Ibn-i- Katheer ( Be His blessings on him)has quoted a Hadith under the mentioned verse:
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al’aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Holy Prophet (Be His blessings and peace upon him) said: “Adam and Hawa (Eve) constructed Baitullah by the commandment of Allah and circled aroud it..”
Standard for Mankind:
The Holy Qur’an announces:
“Allah hath appointed the Ka’bah, the Sacred House, a standard for mankind, and the Sacred month and the offerings and the garlands. This is so that ye may know that Allah knoweth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and that Allah is Knower of all things.” The venerable Ka’bah is standard for mankind in four dimensions.
First Dimension: Qiblah for Muslims: Ka’bah is Qiblah for Muslims to say their Salah(prayers) facing towards it. As Muslims form circles around Ka’bah, in Masjid-ul-Haram, during their Salah, all the Masajid(mosques) of the world form imaginary

You probably recognize the picture above from Wikipedia because it is a portrait of the twelve Olympians of the most famous and influential civilization, the Greeks. Yet, the Greeks also have a famous counterpart, the Romans. Both have left their marks on present day culture and have respectfully done so. It is silly, though, to believe that they did not "borrow" some of each others ideas. The Greeks, in fact, were so far ahead that many cultures emulated their findings; the most popular and similar were the Romans. The Romans obtained many of their mythological views, art, and architecture from the Greeks in order to expand their empire.…

The Kaba, known as the celestial house of God, is a simple stone building covered in a beautiful hand sewn cloth made with gold, standing 50 feet high, and is located in the center of Mecca. Have you ever heard of the book Where The Wild things are by Maurice Sendak? This book is very popular among children and adults. While I was researching and investigating Maurice Sendak, I found a lot of interesting facts about his life and accomplishments. Maurice Sendak was born on June 10, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York and died on May 8, 2012 (About). His Jewish family came to the United States from Poland and lost many members of their extended family due to the Holocaust. Maurice was a sickly child and had to spend a lot of time indoors. He spent a lot of time reading, drawing, and letting his imagination run free (goodreads). Maurice learned to love stories as a young child when his father told him embellished versions of Bible stories. At the age of twelve, Maurice became very inspired by the animated world of Walt Disney’s “Fantasia.” He was fascinated with Disney, particularly Mickey Mouse and the film Fantasia, which he saw when he was twelve and had a lasting effect on him. In 1948 he worked at FAO Schwartz as a window dresser while he took night classes at the New York Arts Students League.…

The Hajj is the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. It is one of the largest annual pilgrimages in the world, and is the fifth pillar of Islam, a religious duty that must be carried out at least once in their lifetime by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford to do so. The Hajj is a demonstration of the solidarity of the Muslim people, and their submission to God (Allah in the Arabic language). The pilgrimage occurs from the 8th to 12th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the 12th and last month of the Islamic calendar. Because the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar, eleven days shorter than the Gregorian calendar used in the Western world, the Gregorian date of the Hajj changes from year to year. Ihram is the name given to the special state in which Muslims live while on the pilgrimage. The Hajj is associated with the life of Islamic prophet Muhammad from the 7th century, but the ritual of pilgrimage to Mecca is considered by Muslims to stretch back thousands of years to the time of Abraham (Ibrahim). Pilgrims join processions of hundreds of thousands of people, who simultaneously converge on Mecca for the week of the Hajj.…
