WESTERN VISAYAS
(KALIBO, AKLAN)
The Western Visayas is located between Visayas Sea and the Sulu Sea. It consists of the provinces of Aklan, Capiz, Iloilo, Antique, Guimaras and Negros Occidental.
Kalibo is the capital of the province of Aklan, in the northwest of Panay Island, Philippines. It is a First Class Municipality and the "International Gateway" of the Western Visayas Region, practically located at the center of all coastal municipalities of Aklan province.

DIALECTS SPOKEN:
Aklan (Aklanon, Akeanon) is spoken in the province of Aklan on the island of Panay in the Philippines. Its unique feature among other Philippine languages is the close-mid back unrounded vowel [ɤ] represented by the phoneme /ea/ as in the nameAkeanon (Aklanon).
The Malaynon dialect is 93% lexically similar to Aklanon and retained the "l" sounds, which elsewhere are often pronounced as "r". .Ibayjanon (Ibajaynon) dialect has shortened versions of Aklanon words.

The Ati-Atihan Festival is a feast held annually in January in honor of the Santo Niño (Infant Jesus), concluding on the third Sunday, in the island and town of Kalibo, Aklan in the Philippines. The name "Ati-Atihan" means "to be like Aetas" or "make believe Ati's." Aetas were the primary settlers in the islands according to history books.
