FedEx has one main key activity and that is to deliver goods around the world. FedEx express is an overnight courier, providing next day air service. FedEx Ground provides a door-to-door delivery service. FedEx Freight provides a service which carries large amounts of freight to destinations where it is then transported by FedEx Ground. FedEx Office provides a retail outlet for shipping, printing, copying and binding services. During an average day various departments within FedEx Corp work together to ensure a excellent service is delivered to customers. The marketing department works very hard to ensure people know about them. They especially target small businesses that are in need of professional connections at far off places.…

As one of the most atypical successful marketing cases, FedEx Express was not a low-cost company since it was founding at 1971. On the contrary, FedEx Express tried to communicate to the customers an idea: “No matter the thing you gave to FedEx Express, it will be delivered on time”. And this promise means a high-cost and high-quality service. Thus, in my opinion, this commitment is the key of FedEx Express to become successful. This marketing idea should be the most creative behavior from FedEx. Because…

Even though FedEx has the early lead on operations within China, one only has to look at the European marketplace to evaluate how both companies will approach the new business environment post-agreement. Using the analogy of the tortoise and the hare, FedEx acts like the hare by quickly ramping up service by leasing new equipment and setting up distribution hubs. This allows FedEx to get a head start and achieve early gains but this does not come without risks. Within Europe, FedEx made a number of risks and ultimately sold its European hub to DHL and it is estimated that they had lost upwards of $1 billion from 1984-1992 on the European business.…

For my own part, I am so impressed by FedEx for its clear strategic decision on implementing customer relationship management. Its whole activities are all based on the following three points: the development of database, the establishment of calling center and the application of website. Database-developing process take advantage of more and detailed information about customer specific requirements. The establishment of calling center not only do well to the management of delivery process, but also simultaneously convey the updates to our customer, which making our operation understood. And the application of our website can lead to unnecessary sales forces and publicity staff. Only by pressing down the button, customer can connect to our operation platform. The only thing we should do is to assure our customer of in-time order processing and goods taking-away. It can save unnecessary trouble and simplify delivery process. We can learn from the process of helping others.…

FedEx provides customers and businesses worldwide with a broad portfolio of transportation, e-commerce and business services. They offer integrated business applications through eight operating companies, all under the FedEx name, competing collectively. The business competitor environment includes both private and public companies such as DHL, UPS, and even USPS. One of the major issues the company continues to face is the labor issues (pro-labor bill in congress) and the on-going battle between non-unionized FedEx and unionized UPS. FedEx continues to show many different fashions of management fundamentals. We will review four concepts that we reviewed in class: Social responsibility, corporate strategy, diversity, and information technology.…
