Environmental Impacts of Noise Pollution - A case
Study of Saharanpur City, Western Uttar Pradesh,
India.

Abstract: The results of analysis of noise pollution levels measured during February 2007, in different parts of Saharanpur City situated in Western Uttar Pradesh are recorded. The noise pollution levels, more than the recommended permissible limits have been observed in areas of Nehru market, Delhi road, Ambala road, Dehradun road, and Clock tower. There are numerous effects on the human environment due to the increase in noise pollution. The increasing rate of noise pollution is causing adverse impacts on human health such as insomnia, hearing loss, reducing efficiency, sexual impotency, cardiovascular, respiratory and neurological damages and shortening the period of human life. The implementation of noise pollution control strategy has been suggested by adopting appropriate measures on affected noise pollution sites.

Introduction:
Environment has been described as that surrounds an individual or community, both physical and cultural surroundings. It is also sometimes used to denote a certain set of the circumstances surrounding a particular occurrence for example, environment of the deposition (Keller,
1976).
The term environment is concerned with the entire web of both the geological and biological interactions that characterize relationship between the life and planet earth (Agarwal and Jagetia. 2001). In other words, the pollution has been described as manifest in the expanding dumps of the garbage and wastes, the intractable implication of
