Proposed Research Title: Rental and Payment System for People’s Market Utilizing Barcode Technology

Area of Investigation: People’s Market is a private market located at Barangay Tumana, Marikina City. It was established in year 2000, and the owner is Antonio Melocoton. Before establishing an owned market, Melocoton became a tenant as well. He had stalls located in Bayan, Marikina City, Fairview Market, and Montalban Market selling meat products. Because of his perseverance and will to become successful, he established his own market. The market hour starts at 5am till 9pm. People’s market is supervised by the administrator named Ramon Andres. They also have a collector, security and janitor. It has fifty (50) stalls with different size. They have different sections like dry and wet goods, vegetables and fruits, general merchandise, fish, meat sections and etc. The rental fee is fixed even if the electricity or water bills vary, so that tenants will not complain and get confused about their payments. During holiday seasons like All Saints Day, Christmas, New Year, etc., the rent is free in the market. But the market hour is shorter; it closes at around 5pm or 6pm. Tenants are paying their rental fees every day and they have a manual system. A collector goes to each stall at 6pm or 7pm to collect the payment. The collector has the list of the names of tenants in a coupon bond and check the list if tenants gave their payments or not. It takes a lot of time to go around the whole market to collect rental fees. Aside from that, the

A few weeks ago, I went to see the musical Rent written by Jonathon Larson. The musical has been re made many times as it is a very popular musical. This re make was directed by Pierre Jacques-Brauit. While on my way to Cuyahoga Community College-Western campus, I became extremely enthusiastic as I had high expectations of the performance. However, after watching the two and a half hour production, I was utterly disappointed. Although the musical had some great aspects, such as the live band, cool effects, and great stage lighting, it could have been more organized.…

When people think about market, they either think of a supermarket where everything is stocked with a wide range of products from foods to cleaning supplies, or a neighborhood farmer’s market where retailers set up booths, tables or stands and sell fruits, vegetables, meat and sometimes prepared foods and beverages. Either way, when people talk about market, they think of a physical location. In economics terms, a market does not need to have a physical location. A market essentially means where there are buyers and sellers for a particular product, there is a market.…
