Remember the titans (E.J)
Hook: The movie Remember the Titans, deals with the issue of racism, and illustrates how one can overcome prejudice by uniting for a common cause or goal.
In the beginning of remember the titans Gary and his mother had an external conflict, in which his mother was being judgmental with Gary having anything to do with blacks. His mom ends up letting Gary play football with blacks. During the beginning of the movie Gary was agreeing with his mom on not having anything to do with the black race, Gary didn’t even want to play his favorite sport with blacks. Gary was in his dorm with his white friends and he got in a fight with a black for a very small reason. Gary getting in a fight with a black for a very small reason, showed the person watching that he had something against blacks such as not liking them. During the movie I noticed that Gary is never with blacks everytime he is with someone they are white. Gary only ever hanging out with whites show that he does not want anything to do with the blacks. Gary sticking with not having anything to do with blacks will keep him from listing to what coach said on “Getting to know each other”. In the middle of the movie Garys mother became more excepting with Gary being friends with blacks such as letting Gary hangout with Julius and lets him play football with the blacks. Gary’s mom lets Gary hang out with Julius and his black friends when they go out and do something. Gary’s mom letting Gary hang out with Julius show that she is becoming more excepting with Gary’s decisions. Gary’s mom let Gary play on a football team full of both blacks and whites. Gary’s mom letting Gary play football with blacks shows that she is getting where Gary is coming from when he says that there no different than the white race. Gary’s mom becoming more excepting with Gary’s decisions is changing the view of the movie.
At the end of the movie most of the town becomes excepting on blacks and whites playing football together and hanging
