“RELIGION OR SPIRITUALITY”

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that the topic of this discussion is Religion. Religion has been one the most heated discussion and debates of all time. It is one of those conversations we have always tried to avoid with friends, family, and co-workes as it has the potential to cause some very heated arguments if you were on the opposing sides. Religion is an area of my life that I have seemed to struggle with the most. I am surrounded by friends that seem to have a complete understanding of GOD and their interrepation of GOD and yet I have constantly struggled and yet feeling like I had a wanting for what they had. It was through talking with them and questioning them about the relationship they have with GOD when I realized that I already had what they have, and although I may not have a Religion, I was shown I clearly have a Spirituality and a GOD of my own understanding. Religion is considered to be a body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices, religious beliefs. However, spirituality is completely different yet has been confused as being the same by many people. It is a concept of an internal process seeking authenticity, genuineness, and wholeness. (Dictionary.com) Spirituality is a constant process transcending on one’s current egocentricity. It is also considered a development of a greater connection to oneself and with others through relationships and a union with a community. Spirituality brings meaning in one’s, it brings directions, increasing openness to exploring a relationship with a tangible and pervasive power beyond a human existence.
