Regular School Hours
The idea of adding one and a half hours to the school day each day is an absolutely terrible idea. First, I fill that an extension to the school day will bring no benefits to students or staff. If an extra hour and a half get added to the school day there will be no other time for extracurricular activities. Sports, clubs, and meetings will be very hard to attend because there will hardly be any time. Also there is so much stress put onto students and staff already, so if even more time gets tacked onto the school day the staff and students will be very fatigued. Most people think the school day is long enough as it is, so even with the hours of school today there is hardly any time for students or staff to get home to their family. Again, The school board members must rethink the idea of adding even more time onto the school day. …show more content…
Already, with the normal school hours, parents and students think that there is too much time in the school day. If an extra hour and a half gets added onto the school day, the school might just have to take away sports and clubs period. Some students who want to grow up and play professional sports cannot because of the extra hour and a half that gets added onto the school day. To sum up, sports will not be possible if the extra hour and a half gets added onto the school day.
Furthermore, students and staff are already stressed out during the school day. Just imagine how stressful it will be to go an extra hour and a half. The class time will be longer which leads to even more planning which leads to even more teaching. That will lead to even more stress than a normal day of school. Adding an extra hour and a half to the school day also means more learning and knowledge to take in at once which can be atrocious for a

When would students be able to practice at sporting events? This six-hour school schedule would leave room for practice in the morning. This would free up late afternoon and evening time for homework. Another question asked is when would these kids have time to do homework if the practice was after school? Students could start their homework and not worry about staying up too late. Students would have the ability to wake up around seven if they went to bed around eight and still receive eight hours of sleep.…

Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…

While this is a concern to a lot of high schools and to a lot of athletes in high school, the schools that have implemented a later start time have seen few problems in after school activities (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times¨). Schools will reschedule the practices, allow practice to run a little later than normal, and match times are changed to meet the student's needs (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times¨). Students who get more sleep are more likely able to finish their homework early, allowing time for after school activities (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start…

It would be bad idea to add an extra one an half hour because there would be no time for extracurricular activities, older siblings wouldn’t be able to get their younger brother/ or sister off the elementary school bus, and schools would have to provide a snack for the children because it would interfere with families early dinner time. Can the school afford this? It is very important for families to have family time because families should have a strong bond. Also, kids should have time to get out their energy and have fun instead of learning for nine hours a day. Here are my reasons on why the School Board should not change school hours.…

If schools started at 9 am they wouldn't get out until around 4 pm, but if schools started at 7:30 am kids could get out of school at 2:30 pm. It would be better if they went earlier and got out earlier because it can give kids time to be productive and do other things that they may need to get done after school. Next, it would be less convenient for the kids to do other activities after school. Let's say you do a sport after school, it would be pretty hard if you got out of school at a…

    Why Start School Later?

if jimmy has good grades it makes him look good and the school will look good. so there for i do believe that a later day start would great for everyone. Also i think it would benefit the teachers because then they would have more time to get stuff done and maybe it'd actually allow them to teach better which would also allow the students to learn better and again earn better grades on class work, homework, and test. but however by doing that and getting out a hour later or possibly more then that it will also give teens and kids less time outside during the day when the sun is up to get something's done and pretty much students and teachers would be living in the dark because you'd always be in school during the day. but still for better grades and more…

Late start school would modify the school schedule, putting much stress on the populace. Late start school is a bad idea because it interferes with after-school activities. First, late start school reduces practice time for sports because of how late school would get out. One of the reasons we think the school start time should stay the same is because it will make the time commitment of participating in after school activities more difficult to manage. All of us, like many other students, participate in after school activities. A later school start time will mean that school activities will start later and run even later than they do now. The later in the day it gets, the less energy we have to give 100% effort mentally. We will also be more physically tired which means if…

The time is 7:05. You know your alarm is about to go off. All of a sudden your stomach sinks. You forgot to do your three pages of algebra homework. This is a feeling all too familiar for the students of East Jordan Middle High School. This is due to the poor scheduling job. With a 7 hour schedule students are overwhelmed with ideas and thoughts in their head, and they cannot easily transition so quickly from one idea to the next. They also have trouble remembering their homework. With a 6 hour school schedule, it will fix this problem. The school could switch to a 6 hour schedule by eliminating one class from the schedule completely. Students would only have 6 classes not seven. East Jordan Middle High School must switch to a 6 hour class schedule…

The first year that we could have it in the school, there would be many mistakes and I believe that it might not help student out. If we could change the schedule it might make it harder on the students and, they do not want to make it more stressful on the students. Since that it would affect the whole primary, middle, and high school it would be a big change for all of us. On the other hand, some people may think that pushing the start times back, schedules would run later. Schedules would run a little later, but the majority of teens would rather stay up late than get up early. For sporting events, kids would have to leave school early for games and other events, but they would still be able to make up the work and get everything done. Although teens love to play sports and be involved, that’s not what school is about. Yes, you may miss a few of the afternoon classes if you are out for sports, but if you keep up with your work it shouldn’t be a problem.…

Moreover, having students stay in school for more days can help the school meet its needs. A better explanation would be schools would have no problems, economically.
