Regression Model
2 Methode

The Tutorial Program questions will be posted on the course website. Each week a series of problems based on the lecture material will be set. You should attempt all questions before attending tutorial classes. Two tutorial assignments (due Week 5 and Week 12) will be collected and marked as the Tutorial Assessment. The two tutorial assignments (10% weight on each) will account for 20% of your total assessment for the course. The two assignments must be handed in to the tutor at (or before) the beginning of your tutorial class in Week 5 and 12. Otherwise a mark of zero will be given. Staff members other than your tutor will NOT accept your assignment. The tutorial assignments are designed to assess your understanding of regression models, your ability to interpret regression results and appraise the quality of a model. The tutorial assignments involve analysing data with STATA. The criteria used for marking the assignments are correctness and clarity of the answers presented. The tutorial assignments and the course project (see below) are designed to assess progress toward learning objectives 1-6; the tutorial assignments and course project are the main form of assessment for objective 6 (performing regression analysis using specialised econometric software). Assignment work is individual. You MUST show your own work. Simply reproducing work from other sources is NOT acceptable and is subject to…

The simple linear regression model is: y = β0 + β1x + u -‐ “u” is the stochastic error or disturbance term and represents all those unobserved factors or other factors other than x. -‐ If all other factors (u) is held fixed, so that change in u is zero, we can observe the function relationship between y and x. -‐ If we take the expected value of the model, (Δu = 0 and Δβ0), then we can see that x has a linear effect on y. We will only get reliable estimates of β0 and β1 if we make restricting assumptions on u. As long as β0 is included in the model, nothing is lost by making the assumption that the expected value of u in the population is zero; E(u) = 0. ZCM Our…

I met with Talon Peterson and administered 2 different reading test/tasks. First he completed a post test of the Renaissance Star test. This test is vocabulary and comprehension so the results are a fairly good indicator of overall reading ability. What Star won't measure is fluency which is a major factor in determining a student's ability to keep pace with their peers on reading and writing tasks.…

Time series analysis is a statistical research approach appropriate for an important class of longitudinal research designs. Time series designs typically involve single subjects or research units that are measured repeatedly at regular intervals over a large number of observations. Time series analysis is a great example of a longitudinal design. A time series analysis can help us to identify the pattern of change in a behavior over time or evaluate the effects of either a planned or unplanned intervention.…
