Researchers routinely choose an ◊-level of 0.05 for testing their hypotheses. What are some experiments for which you might want a lower ◊-level (e.g., 0.01)? What are some situations in which you might accept a higher level (e.g., 0.1)?

You are correct when you say that the influence of the media has an affect on the children of "todays" behavior. There are so many TV shows and movies that protray violence and crime, I think it may lay the foundation for ideas for the kids that do not have a lot of parental supervision. Some of the video and computer games are the worst for violence. Also the way parents punish their children for bad behavior has changed. They do not have the respect for the parents that use to be there. So if they don't respect their parent they are not going to respect another adult. They feel they can get away with almost anything. You would have a great study also.

Great and interesting post, I agree with your statement that an important and good standards are part of every cultures. To respect parents are an important aspect of parent and child relationship. But as you mentioned things have changed in the process of time. There are a lot of factors to consider in this changes i.e., the environment that we live in, peer groups, and too much exposure to television that shows violent behaviors, and not to mention the lack of time or lack of parental involvement in their children.

This is a very good post. It would be interesting in itself to see how many teen parents there were 20+ years ago. This would be a very interesting study because these are kids having kids and still have a lot to learn themselves. It would also be interesting to learn how many of the teen parents also had a criminal record. Very interesting.

One of the barriers I have encountered to become a professional nurse was a multicultural issue. In nursing school, I learned how to respect the rights and dignity of all patients. Here in Miami, a cosmopolitan city, I had the opportunity to interact with family and patients from other cultures. In my personal case, I have learned that I do not need to understand all beliefs completely, but I do need to respect them. For example, some manifestations of this barrier were: discrimination, racism, prejudice, religion. I learned how to manage them calling the clients by their names or asking how they wish to be addressed, always demonstrating respect; no making assumptions about other individuals’ beliefs; asking questions about cultural practices…

Marriage is not about a piece of paper, a ring, or sexual preference. It has never been about any of these matters, and should not be considered so. Marriage is the commitment between two people who love each other unconditionally. According to Psychology Today, “marriage is the process by which two people who love each other make their relationship public, official, and permanent” (Psychology Today, 2002) . Anyone can get married, but it takes dedication and work to make a marriage last and be successful. This paper will specifically discuss an article written by Jan LaRue, Why Homosexual “Marriage” Is Wrong and what fallacies are contained within the article.…

Besides that, lack of parental guidance is the primary factor that can lead a child to involve in violence. With the lack of parental guidance children are not put on the right path, nor are they taught what is socially acceptable as far as behaviour. If a child is taking social cues from video games and movies of course they are going to pick up their behaviour patterns from those things as opposed to the vacant parental figures. Even though these behaviour patterns may be imprinted from video games, it is not the fault of the games themselves for imprinting the child but the blame should be pointing toward the parent for not imprinting their own child with the correct sequences of socially acceptable…
