Reflective Essay Ever since the semester started, we have written three major essay, review, report and visual rhetorical analysis. Throughout the semester, I have learned new ideas and methods of writing and learning new punctuation rules and learned the ease of writing within the minimum word limit. Through writing these essays, I have improved on wording, format and grammar. When staring out, I had multiple problems regarding wording and use of different diction. When I first wrote the Short Academic Response #1, I could not determine the correct time to use the word “Have” and “has”. For example, “According to Staple’s observation, colleges do this because, some departments has a lower attendance rate and has the possibility for the classes to get cancelled”. The underlined part indicates the places where the word “has” should’ve been “have”. By the time. Another word that I had problem using starting out was so called “Trash Words”. In the beginning, I cited the source using the parenthetical citation method however, what I did not do correctly was that when something is quoted, the period goes after the parenthesis. For example, in the review paper I wrote “’…. Killing Floor wasn’t known for its looks, but Killing Floor 2 might be’. (Ingenito). “. To do the citation correctly I had to move the first period, which is at the end of the sentence to the end of the parenthesis. But now, I no longer have that kind of problem and I can now cite the sources and do so correctly. I cite like the following, “Knowing I was ok with that let me know I was doing exactly what I needed to be doing”’ (Del Mar). And I did not get corrected for incorrect citation
