Reflective Argument Analysis
I wanted to acknowledge that you did, indeed, reach the correct person. I, too, honor our courage in seeking me out to share your thoughts. I am, however, disheartened at your assumptions about what I - on either a professional or personal level - may or may not know/understand about the processes you felt compelled to explain. While I thank you for some historical clarity, it seems that you missed both the points and contexts of the statements shared during the conference. To be clear, the comments were neither about me personally feeling the system is less fair than it should be (though, at times, I do), nor a direct call out to any person or particular brand of practitioner.

That you, personally, have the intent to be fair to everyone is good to learn. I wish more people (professionals and laypersons alike) had that intent and practice. I appreciate your role in the fight for justice; for our community and victims.

I feel that your reaching out to me has opened that door. If you care to discuss this further - to learn more about the views I shared, the contexts of them being shared, or anything else - I can make myself available for a deeper discussion in person. Please let me know if you're open to

Published in the New York Times, Murray is addressing a primarily liberal audience. However, it is read by a general audience both liberals and conservatives between the ages of twenty and sixty because it is circulated nationwide and internationally. This newspaper reaches the educated upper, middle, and lower classes. Murray includes himself in the same category as the reader, however his tone and word choice suggest that he sides with Summer's radical comments and this in turn weakens his argument as a whole.…

The topic sentence is clear in this paragraph but is missing information. I expected to be reading about Vancity’s launch of Fair and Fast and that is what is included; detailed information was given to expand on what is Fair and Fast and how it operates. I do think that topic sentence should have included talking about low-income needs in order for me to anticipate the information included in the paragraph where Jerry Buckland is quoted and his experiences and expertise is quoted to support the need for small short-term bank loans that available to more people. I would have it read: In June 2014, Vancity launched Fair and Fast, offering sums between $100 and $1,500, addressing a need to serve low-income Canadians. By including the key points…

The method of skeptical inquiry or way by which Pyrrhonian skeptics bring themselves to withhold assent to every non evident proposition is known as the modes of suspension of judgment. There are five such modes that Sextus provides and they are based on: Discrepancy, regress ad infinitum, relativity, hypothesis and circular reasoning. (Empiricus, 165–169) The modes are designed to assist Pyrrhonian skeptics in in continuing their inquiry by guarding themselves from the disquieting state of dogmatism. For the sake of argument, suppose there is a dogmatist who believes that P. In order to avoid the snares of dogmatism, the Pyrrhonian skeptic would resort to withhold assent about P. According to the mode deriving from discrepancy, due to an undecidable…

After Reconstruction the states that resided in the north were primarily Liberal Republican. This was due from Lincoln’s association with the Republican Party, and the role he had on equal treatment for blacks during the Civil War (Boles pg. 570). Also, the term liberal is associated with the progressive party, which means looking forward. In contrast, the south was primarily Conservative Democratic, with the term conservative associated with being stuck in old ways of doing things. This implies that they did not agree upon the equal opportunities among blacks and whites, because they viewed blacks more as servants. This way of thinking stemmed from before the Civil War, when slavery was still in common practice. So, one of the main divisions between the two parties was the issue on race. Today the south is largely associated with the Conservative Republican platforms, and the north being associated with the Liberal Democratic platforms. The purpose of this paper is to explain how the South transitioned from this solidly Democratic region to one that is today largely recognized as solidly Republican, through the platforms of key politicians had on…

Throughout this week I have experienced many mixed emotions. On Tuesday I came to class extremely exhausted so I took a 5 minute power nap: I woke up confused and overwhelmed. Luckily Prof. Aran took a short break, but I still struggled to catch up on what I missed. On Wednesday I got up early to begin my rhetorical analysis and study the math problems I did not understand. It was a great feeling to come to class and know exactly what was going on. After class I joined a math study group which made me feel even more confident about my math exam approaching quickly. On Thursday I finished my first assignment with 10 hours to spare. My Rhetorical Analysis paper was very challenging to write, but I dedicated 2 hours a night and finished the…

As I searched through articles and academic journals, I came across an interesting read. Is there a God? This is a question that crosses the minds of everyone in the world, at least once. While this question is highly controversial, the world must come to the realization that there is not one definite answer. This may seem confusing to most people, and the concept will probably never be fully grasped. But there are five particular philosophers who have formed strong opinions and arguments to address the question at hand and seem to have it all figured out. Philosophy and religion do indeed have an unsettled relationship, but this relationship only challenges minds, inspires people to think, and allows others to obtain a deeper and more detailed perspective.…

I will focus my paper toward the Analyzing portion of the learning outcomes as it pertains to my Rhetorical Analysis Essay, “Everybody has an Opinion.” I was assigned to choose an article and analyze it exactly how the author explains it to the audience. I could not be bias; I could only judge and explain it off of how the author used rhetorical appeals to describe that specific topic. I choose to focus on this assignment because I never even knew what ethos, pathos, or logos were until I read the rhetorical appeals handout. During this semester, I grew more as a writer than any other unit during my lifespan. It also helped me to analyze the world itself, daily activities, or even basic conversations beyond just the surface of it. Learning…

Of the topics that I could choose from, I chose to discuss how to reduce poverty in the United States. Poverty in the United States has been something that I have been personally hearing about since I was a child. It has always been a topic during every Presidential debate that I can remember. While growing up, I have always pondered ways of helping others that were less fortunate than myself. This had led me to believe whole-heartedly that the poverty rate can be reduced through several avenues.…
