The use of a recognised frame work allows for a more structured interpretation when reflecting upon practice (Dyke, 1999). This essay will reflect on my personal and professional development during my first year on the nursing diploma programme. On January 11th, 2017, I had the opportunity to engage in a pediatric simulation with my clinical group. The simulation took place in the simulation lab at Western Regional School of Nursing. My clinical group, two nursing instructors, and I were present during the event. Our clinical group was there because it was a clinical component of our pediatric clinical rotation. We were required to apply our knowledge and use critical thinking during the simulation, acting as if it were a real life experience. In this essay I am going to reflect on my experience working as part of a team and the preparation on an oral presentation I had to do in class with people from different courses, as part of the Foundations for Practice in Health and Social Care module.
