The Reflection Paper Having to go through a English Composition class for my major has taught me the best ways to put all of my thoughts together when trying to write a paper or write critical analysis’ about a short story, poem, or play. I have always been a thinker, but through my coursework, I have greatly sharpened my critical analysis skills. Instead of focusing on proposed meaning or biological backgrounds, I have learned to continuously ask “why” on many different occasions and dig down deeper to learn what I am reading and writing about. Every essay has requirements that the writer needs to fulfill to make the paper a correct and full essay. Requirements that we had to fulfill in English Composition 1302 include an introduction with a thesis, a body that includes 3 or more paragraphs, a conclusion, and a credit of all of the sources we used. The introduction is where we introduce the subject of the story and state our thesis. The objective of the introduction is to demonstrate that we understand the essay question or prompt and have formed a response to back it up. The body of the paragraph, which is drawn out in paragraphs, is where we developed our arguments and assertions using research and analysis. The process of analysis I used in my papers included differentiating among several ideas and events, drawing inferences, comparing and contrasting, interpreting results, and critiquing a variety of perspectives. Our conclusions had to be the summarization of the research and analysis presented in the essay. Our conclusions also included recommendations and conclusions, which is where you demonstrate that your conclusion supports the thesis you put forward in the opening paragraphs. The purpose of this is to convince the reader that your thesis, facts, and analysis are reasonable and valid. Last but not least, the work cited page is where you put the documentation of the sources you used
