MY VALUES, THEIR FOUNDATION & SALIENCE
Values to me are the fundamental principles that underlie human personality. How you behave, communicate, interact, apply yourself, the standards, rules and self-regulation that you live by are all a reflection of your values. I do believe that perception is your reality, and with this in mind, others perception of their reality, ethics and morals will differ from mine. This is ok, if I am true to my perception of my beliefs and act in accordance with my personal ethics, then I come from a place of authenticity, having strong values, good character and a sense of my own morality. I’m able to show respect and tolerance to others values and ethics and in the process I stay true to my own.
Abraham Lincoln described character as the tree and reputation as the shadow. Your character is what you really are; your reputation is what people think of you. Thus, your reputation is purely a function of perceptions (i.e., do people think your intentions and actions are honorable and ethical), while your character is determined and defined by your actions (Joesphson, 2013, par 5)

Our ethics have come to us without much thought as to how they got there. One assumes our values, ethics or our moral code of conduct have originated from our familiar history, our society, education, the culture we live in, the era we are born into or our spiritual beliefs’. I believe your morals become more valued as we evolve with age and wisdom. Although values will fundamentally stay the same they are shaped by the people we come into contact with, the Organisatons we work in, the amount of spiritual growth we engage in, and the perception we hold our realty in. In examining my ethical morality I

The book Rooftops of Tehran by Mahbod Seraji was very interesting, intriguing but also historical. This book showed me many human experiences that we all share like laughter, tears, love, fear but most of all hope. It also gave me a different perspective about Iran at the 70s which I totally didn’t know. It shows how the government dealt with people who stood for their rights by not facing them but either torturing them. Yet with all the horrible things the government did, there is a better side where people care and love each other. Rooftops of Tehran changed my perception about the prevalence of corruption, the family and social values, and the importance of knowledge.…

Confucius believed that the Ideal Person should live according to the principles of Jen, Li, and Yi, Chih, and Hsin. These five principles are also known as the Five Virtues. Jen means to live with goodwill and sympathy towards other people. Jen also includes being generous and polite to others. Yi means to respect your position towards others and towards nature. Li means practicing expressing the person’s inner attitude through their outward expressions. Chih means wisdom. By demonstrating Jen,…

It seems after careful analysis of literature the research presented in this paper points to authentic leadership as being the superior leadership style and is associated with the most positive outcomes. However this style of leadership is more so suited when used in correlation with other leadership styles i.e. transactional and charismatic and differs from the other leadership styles by possessing mechanisms of multiplicity. Charismatic and transactional leaders can be seen as authentic but authentic is not defined as being any one particular style of leader per se(Avolio & Gardner, 2005). Authentic leaders manifest themselves in different ways depending on their place in the world and the climate they are dealing with(Ms & Rita, 2011). Authentic leaders are…
