Vehicles crowding roadways , power plants pumping smoke and chemicals from consumer products have many people thinking about air pollution and how it affects the planet . Air pollution is a complicated problem with many causes and effects and few solutions . Reducing air pollution and its effects will require the cooperation of people everywhere .

Chairman : Good morning to everybody . We meet again in a forum event entitled ‘ Air Pollution ’ . As we begin the discussion on this beautiful morning , I invite Vivian to explain the definition of this title .
Vivian : Thank you , Ms. Chairman . Air pollution occurs when the air contains gases , dust , fumes or odour in harmful amounts . That is amounts which could be harmful to the health or comfort of humans and animals or which could cause damage to plants and materials .
Chairman : Oh , good view of you , Vivian . Now I’m even invite Thong Yee to ask her opinion on the causes of the air pollution . Please , Thong Yee .
Thong Yee : Ms. Chairman , as we know , air pollution is both natural and human- based . The main forms of outdoor air pollution include particulate matter , sometimes called black carbon pollution , and noxious gases . Burning fossil fuels to power vehicles , homes and industrial plants releases tiny particles of matter into the air .
Chairman : Now I would like to ask any member of the panel to describe briefly the effect of Air Pollution .
Vin Joe : Ms. Chairman , I would like to try to answer this question . Air pollution spreads easily as it travels into the atmosphere . People get exposed to air pollution not just outdoors .

Air pollution affects everything from agriculture and ecosystems to human health, on a global scale. The five major air pollutants are ground-level ozone, particulate matter, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide (Donnatelle, 2010). A majority of these pollutants are the result of human action. One example being coal power plants. These plants release greenhouse gas emissions and particle air pollution. The burning of the coal creates pollutant byproducts. Other forms of industrial pollution, exhaust fumes, burning wood, and several forms of indoor air pollutants result in air contamination. The combination of various air contaminates can be extremely toxic. The pollutants irritate the lungs and may even cause respiratory diseases and cancer in humans (Donnatelle, 2010).…

Air pollution is the introduction into the atmosphere of chemicals, particulates, and biological matter that cause harm to humans, other living organisms, or cause damage to the natural environment. Stratospheric ozone depletion (contributed to air pollution) has long been recognized as a threat to human health as well as to the Earth’s ecosystems. The Earth is capable of cleaning itself of a certain level of pollution, but man-made pollutant have become too numerous for the Earth’s natural mechanisms to remove. We are seeing the results of this overload in the form of acid rain, smog, and the variety of health problems that can be contributed to our environment. (Godish)…

Bibliography: "Air Pollution." GEG Project RSS2. GEG Project, n.d. Web. 29 Nov. 2012. This informative web article details the process of air pollution. In defining air pollution—when specific compounds in the atmosphere reach a point to which they cause change in the environment—it is observed that large quantities of these pollutants can be harmful. Natural processes such as volcanic eruptions decay of organic matter, and wildfires generate small amounts of air pollution. Humans, however, create far more substantial quantities that have greatly impacted the environment. An increase in outputs of pollution is the cause of acid rain, global warming, and even health risks such as heart disease and stroke.…

The effects of air pollution and disregarding its warning signals influence present life styles and determine the future. Now people are only inconvenienced by air pollution. Large urban areas such as Beijing have pollution alerts which warn elderly people and those with pulmonary diseases to stay indoors. For those intrepid enough to venture outdoors, alerts mean stinging eyes, irritated sinuses, and scratchy throats. Even though people living outside urban areas are seldom inconvenienced today, no one should be complacent about what the future holds. If pollutants keep building up in the atmosphere at present rates, only a few years into the 21st century will find the delicate layers of the atmosphere so damaged as to…
