Collegiate football players, or any collegiate player for that matter, should be paid for each game based on how hard they work and how dedicated they are to their sport. The athletes are the basis and the main reason the NCAA makes their millions. In addition, it can give these athletes a financial education and better prepare them for their future. Money is the reason people thrive.

But the players themselves don’t see any of that money…” The NCAA should pay up. These players make the NCAA thrive. Without these players no games will be aired and no money or donations will be given to the NCAA. The NCAA needs to pay these players what they deserve. In recent years the topic of college football players being paid has been widely discussed, but in reality the fact that this is even a discussion is just ridiculous. College football isn't a job, it is an extracurricular activity students can take part in while in college. Behind this common idea is college football players already are being seen as more privileged and that is not fair to other students and paying college football players will increase that perception. Also if the college football players were paid there must be an organized plan in terms of the pay structure it would it be fairly determined in terms of how to pay the football players and seeing if certain players get paid more than others. Most importantly is the immaturity…

The first reason I think college football players should get paid is that they spend more at football than an average job. An average hours for a job is 33.3 hours a week. For football you spend an average of 43 hours a week (Forbes). It is a lot harder for football players to maintain good grades because they miss a lot classes.…

The NCAA manages everything in college sports, and is considered a non-profit organization, all of the money they make is redistributed to the colleges that are part of the NCAA. Just football, and basketball generates 6 billion dollars a year, and not one penny of that money would've been made if it were not for the student athletes. In "Pay To Play: Should College Athletes Be Paid?," Adele Birkenes and Akash Bagaria who have written six articles about student life states "It is only reasonable that student athletes have a share in the millions of dollars that their sports businesses bring in." The statements by the authors bring to light this one simple question, why can the athletes be rewarded for making the NCAA and colleges successful? Although paying college athletes is not an easy decision for the people in charge, many support paying student athletes. There has been many proposals dating back to the 1950's, but there are five proposals that have a very good chance of getting passed, and used. In the article "Point/Counterpoint: Paying College Athletes," Dennis Johnson states "...former NCAA President Miles Brand's suggestion and allocate athletes include a $2,000-$3,000 cost of living increase to full scholarships...This would provide the athletes with the needed income for clothes, laundry, sundries, travel,…

Being a college athlete myself, I have lived the struggle of trying to maintain grades, while going to practice and games during the week. Imagine trying to keep a job during this hectic schedule. It is hard for college athletes to find extra money to get a pizza or go see a movie. It is especially hard for athletes coming from tough backgrounds. Two out of every five Division I athletes come from single parent homes and athletics are their only opportunity to provide a future for themselves and their families. It is not easy for these students to get jobs because their schedules are already full. For example, many division I football teams practice twice a day. A day for a division I football player could look like this: practice-6 a.m., class-9 a.m., class-11 a.m., and practice-2 a.m. By the time they are done with the second practice of the day their day is practically over. They still have to eat dinner and possibly do homework. This leaves no time to get even a part-time job. It also raises the question of how these athletes obtain extra spending money? If you are an athlete like Johnny Manziel, who…

College football should think about the rules of the NCAA another way. The NFL makes football players wait three years after graduating high school before entering the draft (Bayless). With such a tight hold on players from the NCAA, means no income for players in that time frame. Outside of room, board, and tuition players should be able to receive payment of some sort. Scholarships looks really great to the outside eye, but scholarships in the market today isn’t worth the same as it was in past decades.…

Over the past decades, what has continued to be one of the most debatable issues in the world of sports is whether or not college football players should get paid. My honest opinion is football that players should receive a certain proportion of money because of the service that college athletes provide to the institution they attend. In addition, they should be rewarded in a reasonable manner after putting their bodies out on the line, bringing in a tremendous amount of money, it will help with the football athletes to begin creating a sense of financial awareness, and finally it will attract more talented athletes.…

College football is played by teams of student athletes fielded by colleges, universities, and military academies. College football is a pastime used to promote competition. It is by no means a profession. Professional football is one’s main paid occupation, while college football is an entirely different activity that does not deserve annual salary. A paid salary for college footballers would cause a lot of controversy and isn’t necessary. College football players should not receive an annual salary for their time playing for a college team.…

The NCAA makes an estimate of nine hundred and eighty nine million dollars annually. The NCAA is able to make this gigantic profit while paying its employees absolutely nothing. If this situation would happen with a large employer paying its employees nothing, the company would get into serious legal trouble. However, since they are college athletes, society thinks it is okay. While many people say that receiving an education is enough of a privilege and paying college athletes would ruin the spirit of the game, college athletes should nevertheless be able to use their names for monetary gain because, everyone else in the business gets paid, college athletes train like professional athletes and athletes produce millions for their college but are paid nothing.…
