reaction paper (natl museum)
Reaction paper to the National Museum of the Philippines
The outside architecture of the museum says it all. It was built really for a special reason. And that reason is to be a home to our country’s most phenomenal items like paintings made by our national artists, fossils of our great ancestors and many more. And as I tour the inside of it, the more I understand things my MAKABAYAN, SIBIKA, A.P. and HISTORY teachers are saying. It really helps a lot in my understanding. It’s like coming alive from our books. In here you can see it more closely and you can really appreciate it. Unlike in our books, it’s really boring. Now I understand why many of us think that History is a boring subject. You really need to visit what our books and teachers are talking about. It really changed my perception about History Subject. Now I have more appreciation for museums. I also like the cleanliness of the museum. It adds on the beauty of the museum. Also the staff was dedicated and nice. I also enjoyed touring because of the airconditioning of the museum. It was not cheap. But I noticed that there are empty rooms. I also noticed a good thing that there were renovations being made. I hope the government does not forget to give importance to our national museum. But one thing I do not like is the cost of the museum. It’s too much for a museum. I think it should be free for all, so that everybody can appreciate it. But to end up my reaction paper, I’m really glad to see the inside of the national museum. Not only my perception changed but also it’s a great learning experience for me.

To achieve educational and social role, the theming method implemented in the museum stand for an additional layer in the site to generate educational, effective and emotional visiting experience (Oren and Shani, 2012). This implementation of theming is expressed successfully through the rebuilding of new visitor’s center (Mevoah) in the museum (figure 3), which is an arcaded concrete pavilion roofed by trellises and skylight, and cast ever-changing shadow patterns. Besides the Mevoah, a new history museum replaced the previous museum constructed in 1953 (Figure 4), and galleries for Holocaust art, a Hall of Names, a synagogue; a visual and learning canter and an exhibitions pavilion are included in the new design (Safdie Architects, 2011). A network of sky lit underground galleries lines both sides of the…

Elizabeth Bishop’s “The Hanging of the Mouse”, places animals in the roles of humans in reference to an execution. The writer uses animals to replace humans to possibly convey a message or point of view towards the death penalty. In the story, the mouse is being executed for what we believe is some sort of crime. It isn’t clear whether or not the mouse actually committed a crime, but we are led to believe that an act occurred in which caused the mouse to be executed on this particular day.…

In its early stages of development, television employed a combination of optical, mechanical and electronic technologies to capture, transmit and display a visual image. By the late 1920s, however, those employing only optical and electronic technologies were being explored. With the events between the United States of America and Syria leading towards a possible world war, never has national security become so vital. There are various factors that pose threats to the sovereignty of our country. Peace talks between President Benigno Aquino III's administration and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front are once again at a standstill, with the MILF having doubts on forging a wealth-sharing deal with the government. The Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao has never expressed their desire to be part of the Philippines. The CPP-NPA-NDF (CNN), meanwhile, are having troubles right within their forces. Members of the CNN are no longer listening to the commands of their leader, making it harder for the government to make negotiations and put an end to the war they have waged in the government for so long. Internal conflicts like these weaken our defenses towards any possible external threat, and obviously, do not contribute to improving our national security. Aside from these rebel groups, stories of Filipinos living in extreme poverty, politicians using their pork barrel funds for very questionable non government organizations, etc. are all too familiar in the Filipino setting. Our incapacity to overcome the problems that would surely enhance our defenses gives us an overview of where our country would stand should a war be triggered. Recently, the US and Philippine governments have been conducting talks on increasing the rotational military presence of US forces in our country. I believe that so far, this is the most pressing threat that could befall the Philippines. We are letting an enemy, disguising itself as a friendly ally, enter our country, use our natural and human resources, and make use of our military bases in the sake of a more developed army and faster response in times of calamities and natural disasters. It is such a petty excuse. Forming an agreement with the United States has only…
