Contentment. This is one thing that the two lead characters in the movie do not contain over themselves. They both made sacrifices just to be able to have the title of the one who has the greatest magic trick. They sacrificed their friendship, their families, even their lives. Before they started their rivalry, they both have good relationship with each other, good family, a good life. But what happened after they tried to uncover each other’s secret? Because of greed and personal motive, they both lost everything.
The story looked like a tragedy, horror, and dramatic movie for me. It’s like an exaggerated version of how we live our lives, sometimes. Even though we don’t admit, but sometimes, there is some part of us that want to be on top of someone because we don’t feel satisfied and we can’t accept the fact that there is someone better than us. Here in the story, the secret is the symbol of what we want to get from someone. And what the two characters did in the story are examples of our actions in real life. One makes the attack and the other one makes the defense. Robert, who was the one making the offense, wanted to know Alfred’s secret, not just because he did it for revenge, but also because he wanted to own the prestige that Alfred had. He did everything that would put Alfred down. On the other hand, Alfred was the one making the defense. He sacrificed everything that he had in order for him to get a hold of his fame. In the end, both of them didn’t make it to their goal. Instead, they became losers of their own games.
The characters are the epitome of human greed. Greed that we cannot pull out of our being human. It seems impossible for a human to be able to escape this kind of bad attitude. But as we grow older, as we mature, we learn how to build up goodness in ourselves because we realize the true meaning of life. We realize

The characterization of the main characters differs between each of the texts. In Branagh’s appropriation, he tries to illustrate both the good and evil qualities in each of the characters and give purpose to Victor’s actions. In the film, although being on a quest for knowledge and power Victor is very passionate and romantic; however Branagh stays true to the novel by making him sometimes selfish, ignorant and curious. Through characterization both Branagh and Shelly comment on the theme of man playing god. They show…

The characters are an important technique used to position the reader to see how precious the environment is. Abel is the most important character and is constructed as a boy that is passionate and cares for the ocean. This is shown in the quote “Up and down they went, hanging onto each clump, leaving the rest to breed and grow.” Abel is also constructed as a strong willed character that does his best to help other people and the environment. When Abel sees Costello “stripping the reef bare” he goes out and stops him and in the process saves Blueback. This to me shows that Abel isn’t a selfish person. Another example of Abel being unselfish is when Longboat Bay is almost ruined by an oil spill and Abel rushes to call his mother to see if she’s alright.…

Ayn Rand places the main character as the head of moral ambiguity and it is demonstrated in her writings of him. To the other characters he represents their guilt and corruption and how he refuses to fall to their level. In doing so, he demonstrates qualities that are admirable in society and qualities that are less admirable. It truly is for the reader to decide. Morals are for no one person to decide upon, they are individual choices that shape our lives. It is for the own individual to decide the shape they…

Every criminal has his own story. Characters commit crimes or sacrifice themselves to help the ones they love. Also, Chandler demonstrates that being a bystander is a crime. Characters may also be blinded by money which causes them to ignore justice. The novel portrayed the corruptions in a society that are caused by people who are blinded by greed. By creating realistic characters, the novel becomes more applicable to readers of its time because they will be able to understand the plot and have a deeper connection to the world, allowing them to think about the real…
