Rapunzel Research Paper
We’ve all heard the stories; the ones we were told as children. Epic adventures with mystical beings and dragon guarded castles. Fairy tales. My personal favorite is Rapunzel. I was completely engrossed with the story of a girl stranded in a tower, only to be saved by her true love. Saved by the strength of his sword against her fearsome dragon, or by his comatose-healing lips. Then she and her prince charming would live happily ever after. As it turns out, the story of my literary experience begins the same way as a fairy tale; “Once upon a time...”. Once upon a time there I was, a young princess named Isabel. I often sat in my little bedroom, content with my washable markers and coddled stuffed animals. Sure, I loved hearing stories, and my parents had been reading to me since I came out the womb. But it wasn’t until about preschool, when the desire to learn to read by myself took up residence in my mind. …show more content…
There were shelves upon shelves of colorful picture books, and charts rhyming with words, such as; cat, hat, bat, sat, etc. The reason for this being not only that my parents found reading to be one of the most valuable things to learn, but also the fact that my mom is a first grade teacher. So, starting my little quest of literary aptitude, I pulled off of the overloaded shelf a classic; Green Eggs and Ham, by Dr. Seuss. I had already learned in school what sound all of the letters made, so I struggled my way through the book, (with my mother’s help), sounding out the words, and using the pictures for reference. I did this nearly everyday and night for a couple

    My earliest memory of reading or writing is these old learning books that I used to read in preschool. My mom used to make me read them over and over to ingrain the information in my head; they ranged from the stars to ancient pharaohs and gave me a better background and understanding before I went to school. I used to hate reading but it slowly increased my interest and seemed to give me a better reading ability and I’ve kept the interest since then. During elementary school, we had to read a book a month, to keep ourselves reading, even though, most students dreaded it.
