Ralph Vs. John Locke
Ralph and his boys got into a plane crash during WWII. Since that plane crash happened, they are now stranded on an island. John Locke would agree with these events because no government (State Of Nature), CIvilization, and Ralph and his boys trying to create a new government. When Ralph and his boys got to the island they had no government. John Locke would agree because of his first law State Of Nature, which connects with the boys when they arrive. Ralph was civilized and became the leader. When Ralph blew the conch that civilized his leadership of his boys. John Locke would agree as Ralph being a leader because he’s civilized, and wants good for his boys. When Ralph and the boys didn’t like not having a government they tried to make a new one. As Ralph being the leader he tried to make rules to keep the group together. John Locke would agree with this because there creating new rules. There creating new rules to keep the boys together as a group while they are stranded. Ralph and his boys try to keep the island safe and create government. …show more content…
I don’t agree because John Locke believes in government. John Locke doesn’t believe in state of nature. This connects with lord of the flies because the boys had a state of nature as a government. That’s why John locke doesn’t agree. People may not agree with Ralph because the boy might think savagery is better for the group.     Jack’s main focus on the island is to hunt and harvest a pig for it’s meat since the only other main food sources on the island is fruit.     His attempts to make the boys tougher made things get done on the island, and inspired them to do better. His stand on right and wrong gave the tribe a clean look at how they were acting, and keeping his word had a great start, but turned against him, and he the weight of his people were slowing him down, until he weeped at the realization of corruption among each young boys heart.     Impact Of John Locke On Government

    On account of the boys failing to implement this basic fundamental into their society it soon results in war. John Locke believed that in order for a government in prosper, it is necessary to bring down the government when it does not protect the rights of citizens. Locke believed that a government is based upon the bond of trust between the people and their authority. The people gave up their freedom, and in turn, they expect the authority to act with the public good always in mind. Any breach of this bond of trust can result in an act of rebellion against the government. In particular, the boys did not try to overthrow the dictatorship of Jack. The arrogant Jack cunningly manages to overthrow Ralph. Jack splits away from the group then he persuades others to join him in hunting leaving Ralph hopelessly outnumbered. Once the tribes split, making Jack the dictator things start to fall apart. As the new leader Jack’s only goal is hunting and he doesn’t care about being rescued. "The conch doesn’t count on top of the mountain" Said Jack," So you shut up" (Golding, 42). Ralph tries to talk things out with Jack but he doesn’t succeed and eventually, disagreements between the two groups became violent. Jack created a society that lost all resemblance of civilization; the boys in his tribe had become completely savage; they painted their faces, hunted, and punished those that went against them. They identified Ralph, Piggy, and their followers as the enemy and their goal was to destroy those would not join Jack's tribe.
