Racism is a very strong word. To many people, it means many different things. The actual definition is when a person or group of people feels superior to another because of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or simply who they are. So pretty much what makes a person human. Every since the Americans first brought over the slaves from Africa, racism has been a problem. Since the 1930s, after the Civil War, racism still exist in North America, and in the most awful ways possible. From there, racism has changed greatly. It is difficult to say whether or not that change has been good or bad, but just the fact that it has changed should be enough. Think about it; before, humans were using whips and nooses, but now, people use guns and poison.…

Racism comes in different forms of stereotypes, limitation, and assumptions that affect certain ethnic groups differently than others but all have the same negative effect. This then creates stereotypical power status, giving the illusion of how one racial group is superior compared to others. An example that shows great understanding of the issue is the article, “White Fragility: Why It’s So Hard to Talk to White People About Racism” by Dr. Robin DiAngelo who explains how the topic of racism plays a huge role is social interaction between people of different ethnic groups. The author states, “It became clear over time that white people have extremely low thresholds for enduring any discomfort associated with challenges to our racial worldviews.” (DiAngelo, 36) This displays the power of stereotypes to spread around communities about each ethnic group, resulting in them facing daily obstacles of how to handle racial profiling situations that results in people not being able to protect their racial feelings and human rights, challenge white authority, meritocracy which is addressing the issue of unequal right between racial groups, and white centrality. Overall, racism is just but one of the many factors that contribute to this broken state of…

Preponderance of pages in the annals of history has a lot to say about the menace of Racism. In their endless prints, racism is concisely described as the “belief that a particular race is superior or inferior to another, that a person’s social and moral traits are predetermined by his or her innate biological characteristic”.( archive.com). The above definition hints that racism is an expression of individual’s state of mind; we are never born racist, rather we chose to be, by believing what we want to believe. Racism is a very sensitive topic. It’s a topic that is even worse to teach about let alone write about, because its intricacies was buried in a web that runs gamut evolution theories to sets of beliefs of some human sects who just…

The Oxford English Dictionary describes racism as “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a group or individual of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior”. It is significant when concerning oneself with the discussion of racism that a clear and concise distinction is made between the two different types of racism. Firstly there is individual racism. It is defined by overt acts carried out by an individual which can, in extreme cases; result in the death of the victim immediately. However it can also cause destruction of property, assaults, and verbal abuse and intimidation. This specific type of racism is easily observed in the process of its commission and can be quantified. The second type of racism, institutional racism, is covert and much harder to identify. It is much harder to unearth the specific individual responsible for acts, and in some cases it is not a single individual but a group, or a system. Institutional racism is by no means less destructive and harmful to life than the first - it is just much harder to isolate cause and causer. Institutional racism does not receive the same condemning judgement as individual racism because it is often executed by established and respected forces in society, such as the police.…

Racism is a global problem that has existed throughout the history of mankind. Despite the different kinds of measures taken against racism including African-American Civil Rights movement, Anti-Apartheid Movement, Hate Crime Laws, or bans on any racism manifestations, it continues to be a constant concern. For some people, it is a vague concept, because it reveals itself in different forms. For others, it is simply based on unreasonable believes and hate. So racism, after all, became a label that is used for humiliation, based on hatred of the individual or even entire ethnic groups. I will try to address the problem of racism from several points of view taking into account the areas in which racism exists and manifest itself; to prove that…

Numerous amounts of humans are dying from the riots and fights because of the racism spreading around like a disease. As of now, racism means to start fires, light other souls on fire causing massive amounts of death, or even break and destroy small buildings. The real racists out there have corrupted and twisted the definition of racism around and are attempting to use it to fulfill their murderous, bloodthirsty needs. Graff claims, “Slavery meant a complete disruption from the African's land, people, language, and customs.” A great deal of African Americans believe that since this happened to their ancestors, then they get to kill, loot, and destroy anything they want to. Other races are using reverse-racism to seek out revenge for their ancestors and to do about anything else that they desire. Racism in America has caused and still is causing corruption in the United States Government. The government is only doing one thing about the unnecessary killings of African Americans throughout America, and that is just sitting in their chairs making money. There is a solution to this complication and that is to replace certain government members with humans that will actually do something about this racist epidemic.…
