Racial Stereotypes
Racial stereotypes have been used all around the world. They are mostly used to make a statement against someone and their ethnicity/race. These stereotypes have caused alot of problems in the United States. Racial stereotypes shouldn't be used because it may hurt a persons feelings, it makes you look immature, and it just isn't right.
Through a personal experience, I have seen people try to commit suicide or are very insecure of themselves because people used racial stereotypes against them. To me, that's just wrong, trying to get the pleasure of making someone feel bad just so that you feel good is just dumb. Everyone is created in the image of GOD, which makes everyone one equal.
At times, you can be immature and have fun, but saying racial stereotypes takes immaturity to another level. Stereotypes that are used alot are that "All Asians are smart" and "Black people can't swim." I heard these alot when I was younger and I still hear them today. One time, I was in class and there was a girl who wasn't here for makeup day corrections. When she asked her partner for the answers, her partner said for her to ask one of the Asians in the class. She said specifically, "go ask one of them Asians over there, their all smart." I'm not trying to say that they were dumb or anything, but her partner could've said it in a nicer way like "I didn't get the correct answer either, you should go ask them" or "go ask the teacher." That would've made the situation much easier to handle.
Treating others the way you want to be treated is a big thing and something that we as people need to do. Some people now days don't think before they act or say anything. They normally do things to look cool or I makes them sound like they're the top notch people. Well, there is nothing good about teasing people and using racial stereotypes. Try putting yourself in that persons shoes. You wouldn't like it would you? So just to be safe, think before you say certain things

Another thing Miss Cole believes is effective is making sure you heard what the person said correctly and correctly understood their intent behind those words. This let's you give the person the benefit of the doubt incase you did not hear them correctly. If these slurs or jokes happen in a work environment Miss Cole believes…

The media, expecially online like Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, ect., play a huge role in being racist. They have post, pictures, clips, videos, etc., about the apperences of these races. When someone sees something like this and it has a racist joke, they end up thinking that it's okay to be rasict, and tend to teach others about it too. People are rasict towards blacks becasue of there skin type, the way they talk, and because of the stereotype they see them as. People are rasict towards mexicans becasue they are also different colored, they talk a different language, and therefore, they don't like them and start making rude jokes about them. People are rasict towards Asians becasue of their eyes, their language, the way they dress, and because…

I made about this particular social phenomenon are that the stereotypes that are assigned to black people have some truth to them, but are mostly based upon ignorance. I also believe that the stereotypes are in place to keep society's mind frame conditioned to place and keep certain races in superior and inferior positions. If children of each culture can categorize strangers to their "normal" groupings by the age of three, and can…

The Northwestern University states has a new idea on the racial-ethnic achievement gap. In their article “Do race-based stressors contribute to the achievement gap?” they introduce these ideas. The gap is created not simply because of teacher-quality, financial status, or other factors of the same kind, but also because of the stress-factors that come with belonging to one of the racial minority groups.…

The topics that I intend to research are some stereotypes associated with race. Also, how these stereotypes are portrayed through the consumption of children’s products. I intend to argue a point in my research paper that race is not associated with biological features, but through consumerism it is constantly associated with them. I intend to research the typical stereotypes types associated with the Hispanic, Black, White, and Oriental races. My focuses in this research paper are the toy manufacturers of Barbie and American girl.…

As a child, being black was never an anomaly for me. I was educated on the issues of white privilege and how black people are often targeted in a world riddled with injustice; my family on my mother’s side hailed from the deep south, so my grandparent’s lives were obviously filled with the turmoil of the racist south. While equality was always something on my mind, even as a child, being born (and raised for a semi-short while) in New York opened my eyes to the many cultures, religious, personalities, genders, and sexualities of the world. Despite this, the general heteronormative nature of the black community (and the bigotry that can spawn from it) worried me especially in a time where I was still learning about myself.…

In the first six months of 2012, the police, security guards, and self appointed agents of “justice” have killed 110 African-American men, women, and children. Since its publication, there have been 10 additional killings in total, 2012, which means that in 2012, there has been 1 killing every 36 hours. Many of these deaths are the consequences of stop and frisk policies, racial profiling, and a culture of White racist stereotyping of African Americans as criminals and suspects. According to Rosa Clemente, a member of Malcolm X Grassroots Movement and former vice-presidential candidate of the Green Party, “Nowhere is a Black woman or man safe from racial profiling, invasive policing, constant surveillance, and overriding…

Although the exchange was short, this moment has stayed with me because there are many people in this world that are not knowledgeable or educated on ethnicity and race. Although my encounter was harmless, I can only feel awful for those that experience the worst kind. Those few minutes changed how I choose to react in future situations where others may respond with answers that I may not like or expect. Most people base their knowledge on different races and ethnicities by the stereotype that accompanies them, which is a major problem in today’s…

According to the Oxford dictionary, a stereotype is “a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing.” Racial biases and stereotypes are prevalent in the United States. They affect everyone and generally have a negative effect on how people are treated because of these prejudices. Stereotypes based on race or ethnicity impact people’s perceptions of others, affect how we treat each other, and inhibit racial equality.…

Spic, beaner, wetback, the ever-popular “go back to your country!” These aren’t words or phrases that should’ve been in the vocabulary of 9-year-old boys, and they certainly aren’t things that should’ve been said to an 8-year-old little girl, but they were. Almost every day in elementary, three boys would sit across from me at lunch and come up with new racist insults to throw at me to make me cry. I quickly learned that they would be the kind of people that I would deal with my entire life. All three of the boys ended up moving away by freshman year, but even my friends enjoyed making “jokes” about my ethnicity. Whenever I would berate them or chide them, I’d almost always get the “it’s just a joke” or “you can’t take a joke” response that was meant to silence me, but it didn’t. Even though I never played along the way I was supposed to by never laughing at their jokes or biting my tongue when I supposedly should’ve, there are still aspects of internalized racism that I often face. As a child, when I was targeted for something that was inherently non-white, I quickly changed it. I was a dark child, and often called dirty. Every summer I would swim for hours and hours or garden with my mom, but the summer after that year, I stayed inside. Whenever we would go out, I would cover up and hide my face in fear of not being pale enough. When a few of my classmates decided speaking Spanish was ‘weird,’ I never brought it up…
