In our world today, we use the term “acting white” in some cases. Acting white is a judgmental term, useful to African Americans, which states to a person's alleged betrayal of their culture by assuming the social outlooks of white society. Success in schools in particular be seen as a form of selling out by being untrue to one's beliefs. The question of whether or not acting too white is prevalent, and has been discussed in educational literature. The African-American comedian Bill Cosby, used the words in what was a speech he wrote in May 2004 when he tested the African American community against the idea that receiving education was acting white. Black people accused of "acting white" are occasionally mentioned as Black Anglo-Saxons. The 2008 election of Barack Obama as President of the United States resulted in an open discussion that the acting white attitude may be decreasing, as he was a model of African-American
