In the article it mentions that quantitatively how different factors effect patients with systemic lupus, this article qualitatively takes a personal approach to seeing a deep and more valuable meaning of the relationship between certain factors and patients living with lupus. Some patients living with lupus were controlled with the thought that the lupus had to be treated with long term use of medications, others took a more conservative approach, and often times patients would not have the resources to receive their medications.Another factor that influenced compliance with treatment, is how well the patients communicated with their physician.
Statement of Purpose
The objective of this study was to observe the effects that systemic lupus had on a patient’s everyday life, what the main concerns were about the disease, and how that would impact compliance with treatment for the disease.
Research Question Hypothesis
The researchers hypothesized that certain factors in the patient’s life had a direct impact on the adherence and non-adherence to a treatment plan. Concerns, expectations, and even pre-exisiting ideas about the disease played a major role in compliance and good patient outcomes.
