Putting the Brakes on Teenage Driving

After listening to this speech I felt that the speaker was very persuasive and really cared about the topic she was speaking on. I felt that her specific purpose statement was when she stated, “There are too many motor vehicle accidents, deaths, and injuries involving teenage drivers”. I think that this speech was a question of value seeing that she was talking about teenage lives. The speaker used multiple methods of persuasion to get her audience to fell the way she felt about the subject. First, she used the method of imagery story when she talked about the 16 year old and his three friends getting into an accident. The speaker used a problem- solution method also; because she first stated the problem of teenage driving then she stated the way of reducing the number of teenage driving accidents. The speaker really had good credible supporting material. She used the death of her 16 year old nephew very well in her speech. I made me realize that I could happen to someone close to me. I felt that the speaker used an assertive tone in her speech, she let it be known from the beginning that her topic was no a laughing matter. Overall I felt the speech was great and very persuasive. Being a fast driver myself I really took notice to the speech and had a really check with myself. I never really thought that I was putting my life and drivers around my lives in danger. The passenger grabbed the steering wheel, causing the vehicle to veer off the road. The car slid on the grass, struck two snow plow blades, and ultimately came to a stop between two parked vehicles.
