To become a nail technician you need skills in manicure, pedicure, nail art as well as extensions, to have creativity, patience, an organized approach, awareness of the need to keep to health and safety procedures, up-to-date knowledge of fashion trends, customer service and 'people' skills.
You need to be trained this where after you work in different beauty parlors so as to gain more experience and build clientele foundation. A nail technician must be able to perform a number of tasks to be successful in this business. Those tasks many include cleaning and sanitizing your tools and work station, scheduling appointments with clients, taking and managing payments, removing previously applied nail polish, cleaning customers’ nails and skin for a fresh manicure or pedicure, shaping and smoothing nails, doing cuticle and nail bed work, and of course applying undercoat, polish and topcoat. Some of the physical requirements to be successful at manicuring are arm-hand steadiness, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and good near vision. You will need to have creativity and patience. You will also need an organised approach. A great nail technician should have excellent customer service and listening skills, and be friendly and comfortable working with people. You should be able to consult with the client and assess their individual needs.
As a nail technician, your work is: doing basic treatments such as manicures and pedicures, cleaning and filing nails, applying false nails or extensions, decorating nails with coloured varnish, transfers, gems or glitter, painting designs onto nails with an airbrush, repairing, looking after and removing false nails and extensions,hecking for any signs of skin or nail problems before treatment.
