Public Schools In America
Public schools in America are not the same as other countries regarding the intellectual aspect. Countries such as China, India, and Singapore are the countires that mainly represent the highest success rate for school. America isn’t in the top list. We need to make sure we are letting the kids in America have a good chance in succeding and accomplishing the goals they want. Now, the school system here in America is good, however, there needs to be some changes in order to be a competition for other developing countries. Changes that need to be adressed are the school hours, the subjects, and the requirements in order to qualify for a graduation certificate. Comparing it to China which has 1000 hours is a huge difference. However, America is still in a good situation considering the technology and sciences are highly advanced. Same goes with China. India on the other hand, spends 1000 hours in 200 days of school. India and China both practically share the same amount of hours. In order to improve this aspect, it needs to be raised. The normal amount of hours of one year in America should be 950 hours, and roughly 190 days of school. Waking up later and getting out of school later should be the best option as well. Students are super fatigued once they arrive and getting more sleep will help them concentrate better and focus on a certain topic. Now this will effect the time they get out of school also. A reasonable time for a typical day is getting to school at 8:45 and leaving at 2:45. They are still recieveing 6 hours of school and an average of 1 hour of homework and 30 minutes of studying. The rest of they day should be free time, or for a high schooler should either be at work or free time as …show more content…
Meaning they should be learing things that they will guarentee be using in the future.The problem that the schools have is that they teach topics that the students will most likely never use. In elementary school, kids should learn basic add and subtracting in math and basic writing. Also, life skills and teaching them how to be respectful should be something the kids should be informed about. Now that is basically what elementary school is, and it should stay like that. But some aren’t doing that, which is why that needs to be adressed. Middle school should teach semi-advanced math and sciences and the students should utilize their life skills in middle school. They should also be expected to learn how to write properly and spell correctly and have almost perfect conventions/grammar. In high school, this is where they need to learn good math that they will use in their life. They should also learn about politics and basic and advnaced government branches. In that course, they need to learn about the republican and democrat party’s and the basic branches of a government. They should also learn how to pay taxes and have a good budget. Also learn how to be in a good financial position is a big factor as well. Based on what they want to be when they get out of school, the schools should give them a chance to learn more about their job. Meaning the students need to servey
