Meaning of Public Administration From a broader perspective, public administration may refer to cooperative human action whether within the public bureaucracy, the private sector, or in nongovernmental organizations aimed at delivering services to the people.

Meaning of Public Administration Public administration is also a distinct field of study; it is considered both a professional and scholarly discipline. As such, it is concerned with the public policies and programs, their formulation and implementation, and the socio-cultural, economic and political factors bearing on them. It deals with the systematic study of institutions and processes and the interplay of factors involved in authoritative decision-making on goals, in implementing, and in achieving desired results.

The discussion that public administrators should be restricted to only laid down rules in the discharge of their duties bears a great many implications. Whether or not they should have some amount of discretion in performance of their duties may vary greatly depending on the amount of oversight required for the particular level of administration. Administrators working in the U.S. capitol may not be allowed the same freedom to execute tasks as those working in a small municipality.…

Public administrators are increasingly involved in reciprocal relationships within and outside formal public organizational structures. Public administrators are concerned with managerial efficiency in the operation of public agencies, the maintenance of ethical standards in decision-making, and improving the effectiveness (or results) of programs. Therefore, I argue for the aforementioned reasons, public administration is a profession. Additionally, most administrative personnel are specialists hired according to merit. Simply, public administrators are typically experts in the respective fields of study.…

The theme of the article by Goodsell is illustrating “how public administration in the United States can be seen on its own terms, and not those of others” (p. 634). This article argue that the professors and practitioners of the field have inadvertently allowed it to be observed and interpreted from standpoints imposed by others who are external to its institutions and subject matter (p. 623). These include elected officials and politicians and a variety of critics supporting programs for improvement. The representations of the field expected by these outside viewers have been indiscreetly acknowledged within public administration, leaving the field disposed for influence as a tool for purposes other than its own. This situation has made it difficult for the field's leaders to formulate a separate intellectual vision for public administration that is consonant with their appropriate goals and concerns (p.623).…

When the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11, 2001, they made a sound heard around New York as a roar, or distant thunder. The South Tower was the first to go. Its upper floors tilted briefly before dropping, and driving the building straight down to the ground. Many people died, and many others were lucky enough to make it out alive. Twenty-nine minutes later the North Tower collapsed with much the same result as the first. The two symbols of America’s economy were gone, and not even the so-called World Trade Center Seven, a relatively new forty-seven-floor tower that stood independently across the street from the complex, remained standing. The building burned persistently throughout the day, and that evening became the first steel-frame high-rise in history to fall solely because of fire. (Online)…
