Role and responsibility Reason why I have chosen this
Work within the systems and the requirements of the organization you work for

As a teacher it is my responsibility to provide the best learning possible that meets the needs of both the learner and my employer. I am also responsible by Vicarious Liability for the well-being and sometimes the behavior of the learners in my care. I must communicate the knowledge required to pass the course or achieved the desired learning outcomes.

In my role as a Recruitment trainer it is necessary to teach the learners some prescribed material including our company specific paperwork and also regulations set down by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) the Governing body of our industry along with relevant Employment legislation – these constitute the do’s and don’ts of dealing with clients but I also teach the how : ‘soft skills’ which are harder to measure such as communication skills, sales skills and interview technique.

I must also work within the boundaries set by legislation such as H&S at Work Act 1974, The Equality Act 2010, Data Protection Act 1998, Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Human Rights 1998 Act to ensure that I provide a safe, inclusive, motivational, equitable and supportive environment for learners.

Whilst I must work within these systems there is still a lot I can do to make the lessons I give more effective by using the guidelines set out in the PTLLS course such as following the Teaching and Learning Cycle -
-

“The Teaching and Learning Cycle is so called as it can start at any stage and keep going. However all stages must be addressed for teaching and learning to be effective.”

The process I have adopted throughout my teaching is a five stage teacher/training cycle, that of identifying needs and planning, designing, assessing, evaluating and facilitating lessons (McGuigan: 2011), whether it is in conjunction with a scheme of work and its corresponding lesson plans, or whether the course and lessons are self-generated. This process allows teachers to handrail good practice whilst applying the roles of a teacher, and conversely the ten roles, (Harrison et al: 2007) carried out diligently, help assisting the teacher in continuous personal development, not only as teachers, but as leader. Although it may appear that by asking a teacher to be a leader I am asking them to run before walking, as I shall reflect, it is hard to imagine how a teacher can be effective without sharing, introducing and reflecting with colleagues in the style the ten roles below suggest. The first part of this essay therefore discusses the ten roles and how, when followed help career development. The second part of this essay will concern itself with professional bodies and the qualifications than can provide in helping teachers in the life-long learning sector to stay concurrent and a reflection of my role in it, as well as the CPPD I have undertaken and plan to action in the future.…

    1. Abstraction is the process by which data and programs are defined with a representation similar to its meaning (semantics), while hiding away the implementation details. Abstraction tries to reduce and factor out details so that the programmer can focus on a few concepts at a time. i) Example of abstraction in OOPS. Consider a bank application in which there is a Customer Class. The necessary details to have are: Name, address, date of birth. We don't need how many houses he owns and what vehicles he owns so these are unnecessary details for customer object so we suppress these details in order to come up clearly with essential details i.e. Name, Address, date of birth.…

The notion of responsibility is also quite essential, as every teacher needs to remember the importance of not only giving all the possible information to the students but also the necessity of making sure that everything was clear enough to understand and memorize. Then it means that the knowledge will be retained through many years. If a pedagogue forgets that he/she is the one-in-chief and that the responsibility for the students rests on his/her shoulders the educational process will be spoiled.…

One of my unique achievements has been in pedagogy. It was during my fifth semester, when I was helping my peers with the computationally intensive courses we had to take up then, that I realized the efficacy of the statement “To learn better, teach”. The incessant queries of my friends’ made me brood deeper into the subject whilst they enhanced their understanding of it. My achievement was the substantial improvement in grades for both my peers and me. The numerous seminars, which I have conducted in my class in areas both within and out of the scope of my curriculum, have honed my communication skills and I am confident that I would be an effective teaching assistant.…
