The book provides spiritual needs for everyday occurrences in life. The techniques in the book seem to be the latest techniques that are targeted towards the kind of society we currently live in. The multi-faceted principles can make both the counselee and the counselor uncomfortable in the counseling office. The author is a strong believer that an effective counselor starts with the kind of education the counselor has and if they are living in righteousness. There is no part of the book that I would change since I have a strong faith in the integration of theology and psychology; I think the book is the right tool for a Christian counselor. McMinn (2011) provides real-life scenarios to include his own personal experiences that guided him towards the cognitive-behavioral approach in counseling. Moral issues are the main cause of Christian counseling becoming so popular in our society. From personal experience, I have been observing how Christianity is widespread, and society is becoming more accepting regardless of people’s personal, cultural beliefs.
