A Research Plan

Part I – Research Problem

Think about something in psychology that you would be interesting in studying. You can select a topic from what you’ll be studying in this course or another topic that seems intriguing to you.

Respond to the following in 50 to 75 words:
Identify your research problem and describe it. What about this topic interests you?
How people judge obese people versus people in good physical shape. I want to know why people tend to view people who are overweight as bad, greedy, or sloppy eat and people in good shape as good, controlled, or well balanced. I find this interesting because I am diabetic and have to watch my weight by controlling what and how much I consume at every meal. It will be beneficial to me because it can give insight into possible self-esteem issues that could arise going forward. It may also help in trying to control and maintain my diabetes.

Part II – The Scientific Method

Consider the scientific method and complete the following table explaining each step of the scientific method in your own words. Please use complete sentences to write 25 to 50 words describing each step.

Formulate a testable hypothesis
A testable hypothesis is formulating something that can actually be tested or proven. Basically you need to be able to mark or measure what you do and what the results will be.
Select the research method and design the study
This is figure out the way or method you will use to figure out how to study your hypothesis this includes procedures and materials. After figuring out your method you can then design the study by setting up the criteria and varables of the study.
Collect the data
Once you have select the research method and designed the study, you must have a way to collect the data from the study.
This can be done through the experiment documents or through a survey.
Analyze the data and draw conclusions
This is where you will see if your

    There are two different ways to use the scientific method. The five step method involves observing/research, hypothesis, prediction, experiment, and conclusion (Understanding and Using the Scientific Method, 2011). The seven step method involves observation, question, research, guess, experiment, analyze data, and conclusion (Trefil & Hazen, 2010).
