Psy 315 Week 8 Final Project Case Study
Increasing the yield to 85.2% will decrease the loss for the clear glass by $1,647.51 per month and reduce the loss of $2,417.04 per month for the LoĒ² 272. This slight increase can in yield can go a long way to increasing yearly profits. Through observation and yield versus lites per sheet the best ways to increase the yield are to try to eliminate the need for recuts, this is easier said than done with any number of problems that happen along the line for window assembly. With focusing on increasing the yields for the clear and the LoĒ² 272 we start with, Always have the WIN 3i system pulling from the maximum set of jobs allowed. There are times towards the end of the day or week when new orders do not get entered into the system and the amount of jobs to pull from decrease this also decreases the yield because the system is unable to fill empty spots from jobs down the queue. Another reason for there being less jobs is that there is not more orders to put in, in this case the supervisor will have to work with the plant supervisor to see how long they can hold off cutting the pieces until more orders come in to fill the queue. …show more content…
Rush orders are not something that can be eliminated fully but the use of the rush function can be dropped to once day if at all possible or just adding it in as a recut and let the system get to it in due time. The last way that increasing yields can be accomplished and maybe even increasing it to the full 90% target when applied with the other suggestions is to use larger sheets of glass allowing more lites to fit onto it, there are two downsides to this method, during any slow times it can reduce the yield, and the need for a new glass cutting machine to be able to handle the larger glass

This coming summer, we found that our company cannot keep up with the amount of orders coming in. We added in a second shift, amounting to 1,000 new employees, resulting in 3,000 total employees. It is now September and it has become clear that our inventory has grown too large for our company to hold. It was also known that during the winter season, company sales would slow down, subsequently slowing down production. Our productions cannot exceed 4 million dozen between October – March, but with our current staffing, there is too much production going on. With this production dilemma, we have to figure out a way to slow down productions to meet the quota. We are faced with the choice of laying off our workers, which some of our workers have already faced in previous jobs. If we lay off workers, there is no guarantee that we will be able to rehire the same people in the spring. We also cannot afford to lay off the…

This week I was able to start working with a Dominican 15-year-old boy dealing with difficulties with emotional regulation and anger outbursts at home and school. I really felt good about being able to speak Spanish with the mother of the client who was present during the intake process. I felt a level of comfort that would take several appointments to achieve otherwise. The clients mother mentioned that I was the first Spanish provider she has worked with. Being able to speak Spanish brought a level of enthusiasm and richness to the extensive intake process. I was able to implement some of the tips my clinical supervisor had provided last week as to how to take information that would be essential in completing different assessments. I felt…

Currently, the company’s capacity isn’t matching its demand requirements. Heidelberg presses are using 100% capacity (consult Exhibit 1 to get every activity capacity utilization), making Printing activity the bottleneck. Bottleneck slows down the subsequent activities because it can only produce 9.326.913 pieces per month, limiting the inputs available for the Die-Cut center. As the company faces an increasing demand and an expansion of its business the capacity constraint is a challenge. It’s already difficult for Bayonne to fulfill all the orders it receives…
