INTRODUCTION
What is Poverty? Does poverty affect the individuals of a country? Why is poverty considered a serious problem of today? How does it affect the physical and mental well-being of a person? Do you think that there is someone who can solve or address the poverty level of a country?
Poverty is one of the major problems of today. It is the most critical social problem of today that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The factor that increases poverty is the rapid population growth of our country and the unemployment rate of our country due to the lack of job opportunities.

The increasing impact of poverty to our country has devastated many people. People suffer from unemployment which resulted of people unable to provide for families’ basic needs. Te population growth of our country worsens the problem at hand due to the fact that with the increasing rate of people there will also be an increase with unemployment because of so much people looking for jobs.

People suffering from poverty will have to face the scarcity of a man’s basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter, education; health and can cause crime rates to increase because of the hardships they have to endure just to live for a day. People will commit crime such as robbery or even murder to live and it threatens to divide our country because of the issue of equality, in particular income equality

However, poverty also increased from 24.4% to 26.9% * In 2007, more and more Filipino families are earning less than $1 a day to feed a family of five with an additional 4.7 million more families totaling 27.6 million living in poverty. * The island of Masbate ranked number one in the incidence of poverty with about 70.9% of its population is at or below poverty level earning less than $1 a day. That body estimates that even if the Philippine economy posts a 6 to 8 percent growth through 2005, it will still not be possible to bring the poverty level below 15 percent. Economists believe that it may take some 20 years of continuous economic reforms and implementation of social programs before the country can match the single-digit poverty figures of its more wealthy neighbors. In general, widespread poverty in the country is a direct result of inappropriate and unresponsive economic policies, mismanagement of resources, corruption, and failure of the government to implement anti-poverty programs.

ANALYZATION OF SURVEY QUESTION AND EVALUATION

The graph shows the population growth and poverty rate of our country from 1960 to 2009. In 1960, the poverty rate is 59% and the population of our country is 27.1 million.
In 1970, the population of our country rose by 27.1million to 36.7 and poverty decrease for about 7%. In 1980 population rose for about 11.4million and poverty rate decrease by 7.8%. In 1990 the population growth of our country rose from 48.1 to 60.7 and poverty slightly decreased from 44.2% to 39.9%. A decade later, the population growth continues to rise from 60.7 to 76.5 million and poverty rate from 39.9% to 34.2%. In 2007 the poverty rate of our country continues to decrease from 34.2% to 26.4% and population growth from 76.5 to 88.6 million. By the year 2009, the poverty rate of our country received a slight rise of 0.1% and Population growth rose from 88.6 to 94 million. This suggests that while our poverty rate is lowering the population growth of our country is rising per year. The population growth of our country affects poverty because when population of our country increases, the needs of the people also increases. Therefore, if the population of our country continue to increase, so is our poverty rate but, as shown in the graph, the poverty rate decreases while population growth increases putting into theory that the economy of our country is getting higher since poverty is not affected by the population growth of our country.
According to the survey, many people think that if our Income and employment support should be prioritized by our government, our poverty rate will decrease and our economic status will rise. Many people voted that poverty affects them only slightly but there are others that are affected by it, 12.6% of the 1278 people interviewed. It’s not just the Philippines that are affected by poverty but the whole world. Poverty came to be because of many factors: corrupt government, history of a nation/country/state, and every decision of people in money on how they buy things they need or just want. In my interview, I also noticed that in the rural areas, poverty is more active than in urban areas. In the Philippines, many people are unemployed although graduates, they just can’t seem to find jobs and decide to go abroad. This is also one of the factors that increase the Philippines’ poverty rate. Unless we can fix these problems, the Philippines’ poverty rate will gradually increase.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION
The Philippines poverty rate will only increase through the years unless business in the Philippines goes up. If we could only have a president that opens up a business with foreign countries, maybe our poverty rate of our country will decrease. As more people suffer to poverty, the government should fix or slow down the process of the poverty rates in our country. Poverty is the worst problem a leader of a country has to handle because it takes years to increase the total income of a country and it takes a very wise leader to address a social problem like this. Poverty may not even stop because even if a country is rich there is still a little percentage of poverty in a country. A brilliant leader can only stabilize poverty; he/she cannot stop poverty. If we ever want to lessen the problem of the increasing rate of poverty, we must vote wisely. We must vote for a leader that can make hard decisions for us, he must be an intelligent individual who actually care for his/her country and every well-being of every man in that country.
