Pros And Cons Of Water Privatization
Water privatization refers to the control or maintenance of water systems and water resources by private entities. Water privatization pros include improved water supply, meaning that the water is clean not contaminated. A more efficient water system which decreases contamination rate and by increasing access supply decreases mortality rate. Privatization is cost effective, saves corporations money. Privatization provides specialized, trained people that provide a higher level of care to the water systems. Cons of water privatization are limiting who actually receives water- water is a basic human need, without water we would not survive. In these industries, the profit motive shouldn’t be the primary objective of firms and the industry. For example, in the case of health care, it is feared Privatization health care would mean a greater priority is given to profit rather than patient care. Also, in an industry like health care, arguably we don’t need a profit motive to improve standards. When doctors treat patients, they are unlikely to try harder if they get a bonus. I feel that clean, sanitized water should be a free service for everyone. It is an essential need for life. With the most up to date technology, resources and assistance, everyone in the entire world should have access to sanitary water system or have a constant supply of purified drinking water. Again, if underdeveloped countries were supplies with clean water, better healthcare, community resources, many diseases and mortality rates would be eliminated. Again, water is an essential basic need.. we cant live without it. Everyone is entitled to fresh clean water
