The Dual Enrollment Program: Negative and Positive
When someone starts to go into post-secondary education, one would think that it would
start after high school. Some high schools have been provided a different view on this tradition.
Now schools offer a program that not only gives students a head start, but it also allows them to
have an experience at a younger age. The Dual Enrollment Program provides benefits that could
eventually help in the future. Students will appreciate the early access to a higher and more
advanced education. Although students are given this important opportunity, they are put in
difficult situations that could put stress on top of the stress that they deal with at school. The

Some colleges have decided that spending money on
tuition, books, and classes will have no purpose for students of lower incomes because their
higher risk of dropping out.
Once students are in the Dual Enrollment Program it becomes a stressful ordeal for their
schedule. The dual enrolled students are taking a minimum of seven to eight classes today and a
minimum of two classes at college. This can leave students schedules discombobulated because
of the lack of time they will have to do anything such as schoolwork. When students start to do
poor in classes at high school and college it affects grades as well. "… The additional
requirements of a Dual Enrollment Program could cause your grades to suffer and defeat its own
purpose" (college express). The purpose of the Dual Enrollment Program is to help students
improve life at both college and high school, but with the stressful burden it places on the student
schedule, it makes it impossible to get through the program.
For students enrolled, if the problem was not grades or a stressful schedule it was their

enrollment program has been said to be harsh on student's grades, on the other hand, it provides
students with early on education that most teenagers their age do not. Dual enrolled students gain
exposure to various opportunities around the campus including help from study coaches.
As of negative effects of the Dual Enrollment Program teachers, colleges and counselors
may deal with the stress of getting students prepared for classes but the still view the Dual
Enrollment Program as helpful. For colleges, there were little to one effect of the dual enrollment
at the colleges. There were mostly positive effects for the college because the Dual Enrollment
Program helps the school with recruiting future students to the school. The dual enrollment has
provided the participants with exposure to the life of a college student. It prepares students for
something new and additionally, it prepares them for a life outside of the high school walls It
