Pros And Cons Of Horse Racing
Out of all three of us girls, Doris is the best horseback rider. We all ride, but Doris is the most daring and sometimes looks more like an Indian than a civilized human. So we decided to enter her into a horse race at the track at Kailua. Since the population in Oahu is skyrocketing, the track might not be there much longer. My friend Georgy is coming from Maui with a speedy racehorse. I have heard that this horse does not stop running, while still picking up speed, when he crosses the finish line and hears the ending bell. Georgy is also a heavy gambler. He claims he bet $200 that Doris will win the race against his friend that sit under the bleachers, gambling at the races. My opinion is that he is slightly dishonest

This majestic, pale white horse dwells in Scandinavian lakes, rivers, and brooks. The beauty of the horse will draw people – mainly children – towards it, and the brook horse would then proceed to persuade the admirer onto its back. If the person is foolish enough to climb aboard the Brook horse, it begins sprinting towards the body of water at an unnatural speed, and the rider is unable to jump off. The Brook horse will then dive into the water, drowning the rider.…

For you to be a consistent winner as a sports gambler, you must have a winning percentage above 52.38%. That doesn’t sound very difficult on the surface, but in reality it takes a tremendous amount of skill to consistently beat the point spread. In contrast, many sports gamblers are often simply gambling for entertainment purposes and bet on their favorite teams for added excitement. That’s why bookmakers in major cities skew the point spread on the area’s teams to their advantage. For example, if the Philadelphia Eagles are favored by 7 points in Las Vegas, many Philadelphia bookies will likely have them favored by 8 or 9 points because they know that more of their clients will bet on the hometown team.…

According to Lin Ray, net neutrality means no bit of information should be prioritized over another (“VCU Blog”, 2014). The origin of information doesn’t matter. Due to net neutrality, there are no restrictions on the internet currently. In other words, we can have free communication. The entire source of the internet is freely available for normal web users. Losing the freedom of internet access could result in restricted access to websites; fewer download rights and so on. The topic of net neutrality has become controversial because several companies are trying to take away the freedom of internet access.…

“Time heals all wounds” a saying everyone will hear at least once in their lifetime. Does a person have to go through a life changing experience to find self-knowledge and self-acceptance? In Richard Wagamese’s novel “Indian Horse” self-knowledge and self-acceptance is what I will explore. Comparing and contrasting the journey of Saul Indian Horse to the journey of my own mother Yvonne Nepoose. Initially people go through adverse situations in life that leave them feeling isolated. They feel the need to turn to self destructive behaviors to forget the pain; however, this response in turn hurts others as well as themselves. To overcome the pain they feel they must accept the love and help of others. In doing so this will compel them to be resilient.…

Although Gatsby tells people that he had “inherited” his wealth, Nick believes he made the money a different and immoral way. When Nick and Gatsby travel to the city one afternoon, they meet a shady man who claims to be good friends with Gatsby. At first, Nick mistakes him for a businessman but, Gatsby explains “Meyer Wolfsheim? No, he’s a gambler… He’s the man who fixed the World Series back in 1919” (Fitzgerald 78). Gatsby appears to be an honest man, but there is a shady and crafty to side to him as well. A quote from an article proclaimed, “Jay Gatz, whose ill-gotten wealth is acquired solely to gain acceptance into the sophisticated, moneyed world of the woman he loves, Daisy Fay Buchanan” (Telgen). When people picture a sleazy gangster they see someone who is dirty, probably poorly dressed. However, Thomas H. Pauly’s article demonstrates, “Jay Gatsby effectively overturned the dated…
