Pros and Cons of Using Facebook
Millions of people use Facebook daily. It is a place where we can keep in touch with old friends and family. It is also a place where people may spend too much time. Anyone can create a profile so you must be careful whom you choose to interact with when using Facebook. Social networks such as Facebook have become an integral part of our lives, but we must be careful how we use them. Facebook is good medium for keeping in touch with old friends, but spending too much time on this site could cause problems.
Facebook was founded by Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg. He originally intended Facebook to be a college social network, but now anyone thirteen and older can join Users create a personal profile, list personal interests, list their contact information, view other user profiles, add other users as friends, post photos and exchange messages. They may also play games, take quizzes, read daily horoscopes, and participate in surveys.

The major benefit is it allows people to stay in touch with family and friends. My sister actually found a childhood friend of hers through Facebook. They had lost touch with other after high school graduation. They were able to meet and have lunch together to catch up. They now stay in contact through their Facebook pages.

One of the major disadvantages of using Facebook is people spend too much time on it.. My cousin admitted to going online to do her homework and logging onto Facebook and spending hours “facebooking” instead of working her class assignments. It became a big

enough problem for her that she deactivated her account for a while. When she realized she was missing out on keeping in touch with family and friends that use Facebook, she reinstated her account. The company that I work for has blocked Facebook to keep employees from being on
Facebook while at work. Another problem with Facebook is that anyone can make a profile page. Many people have made profiles
