Would California be more progressive with the legalization of Proposition 64? The problem that society is and has been facing is all about proposition 64. People still debate whether it should be passed for good reasons but still others oppose for bad reasons. Along the way there have been some initiatives that have been proposed but didn’t go as planned. Proposition 64 has to do with legalizing recreational marijuana for use of adults 21 and older under the state law. This means that they are able to establish certain sales and cultivation taxes. Smoking would then be allowed in private homes. Although you are able to smoke and grow pot in your private home, it is still illegal to smoke weed while driving and in public places. An example of this would be that marijuana is less addicting than other drugs. In the article “This is why marijuana should be legalized”, the author states that marijuana isn’t even that addicting as people might assume. The worst drug that addicts you the most is Tobacco with a 30% chance. Heroin is a 25% and Cocaine gets 20%. The lowest is marijuana at 9-10%. This shows that marijuana is not as harmful as everyone thinks. Despite what some might think about marijuana, people should be more afraid of what other drugs like Tobacco, Heroin, and Cocaine can do to you and not just worry about how bad marijuana might seem. Yes people might make marijuana seem like it is the deadliest drug out there but studies show different. Marijuana is not the only drug out there, and most importantly it is not the deadliest one out
