Proposition 60 Film Analysis
Did you know that California is the number one state that produces adult films in the U.S? Statistics has shown that “90% of all porn is shot in the San Fernando Valley”. (Abram Susan,) But why is the Valley of San Fernando the home of pornography? Well, it's all thanks to Hal Freeman an adult film actor in 1983 (One thing that you have to know is that in 1993 porn was illegal). He was sued by the state and sent to the Supreme Court, but the Supreme Court noticed how Hal Freeman wasn’t making the porn just to grab attention from the people, he was trying to make a living out of his own films. Therefore, pornography was first legalized in the San Fernando Valley (Faraci). Proposition 60 is a ballot that wants to protect adult film workers

It won’t help prevent any fatal diseases from transmitting because adult film directors have to know the health status of each actor, therefore people with contagious diseases could not participate in any films. In other words, if someone was hiring people for a job, don’t you think that they would like to know about their background and health status?. Sadly in 1998 four performers contracted HIV because the directors didn’t make sure that the person who was infected was healthy. There hasn't been any recent news about an actor contracting any diseases ever since. (Newman, Emily. ). Due to STDs being a huge epidemic problem within the LGBTQS many organizations such as AIDS Healthcare Foundation have informed their donors with “false information and putting them on their side” to either get funds to continue their organizations or to prevent gays and lesbians from having sexual interactions. It is disgusting to know that some organizations want to spread their disinformation to scare the LGBTQ community . Instead, they should provide the better quality of information and sexual health service to their donors, that way they would know how an STI is actually transmitted. Many people who are eligible to vote don’t know much about prop 60, just by looking at the definition of prop 60; they would automatically vote yes on it.Due to many citizens not being informed of certain ballots or measures, the state citizens are having financial issues. Take Measure B as an example, when measure B was passed fewer people are shooting adult films in L.A , and some have migrated to different states. (Abram, Susan) Measure B also caused taxpayers hundreds of dollars annually because taxes will increase due to the loss of the adult film industry in that area(Harry,Saltzgaver). Not everyone in LA knows why their tax rates are increasing, and the one to blame for this are those organizations that give false
