I. Purpose of Research
The purpose of this research paper is to research and discuss body dysmorphic disorder and how the media can be a negative effect on this psychological disorder. This research papers main purpose is to show the relationship between body dysmorphia and the media. Media can be defined as social networking tools, television, magazines, etc. The media is a gateway to unrealistic images of individuals. An individual suffering from a psychological disorder such as body dysmorphic disorder may view these images and feel the pressures of looking a certain way that may be unrealistic. The reason why I find this issue to be so important is due to the fact that I have been diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder and know the triggers of what causes this disorder to worsen.

In order to research this topic/issue effectively the context I will use in my research will come from psychology textbooks, internet articles, scholarly articles/text, case studies, and most importantly from personal experiences. I believe these sources will be the most effective and acceptable tools of information in regards to the relationship linking body dysmorphic disorder and the media.
2. Analyze Data
After reviewing my sources and research I have found that much of my research is analyzing the characteristics of the mental illness body dysmorphic disorder and the impact our society and media plays in relation to body dysmorphia. The main focus of the sources I have collected for this research paper is magnifying how the media plays a role in self-confidence, mental health and well being.
