The promotion that I have located is a promotional campaign from PepsiCo Vietnam for its new snack product Poca Twisties, which is also known as Twisties in other Asian market like Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand (this is an equivalent to PepsiCo’s Fritos/ Doritos for the Asian market). Beside using traditional promotion methods ad like print ads or broadcast ads (which will still be used after this specific campaign is over), the main content of this campaign is heavily emphasized on social media platforms, specifically YouTube and Facebook, which is also what I will focus on. This content is designed, proposed and operated by a local marketing agency instead of in-house department, which is a common practice for big organization.
Since the method being used in the campaign is rather new, uncommon and is intended to work specifically for Vietnam market, I will describe the campaign (along with background information) so that it is easier to understand what the campaign is and why the company choose to do this, as well as to answer the discussion question (also because it’s impossible to find and understand what the campaign is about if you don’t speak the language)
Background information:
Facebook is currently the most popular social network platform in Vietnam, with over 20 million users over the population of 90 million. YouTube, while not having any details data, also seen improving in term of users and user engagement. This is contributed by 2 factors: 1- Internet connection quality in the country (especially in large cities) as a whole is rapidly improving and 2- the amount of Vietnamese user generated content has also increased, under forms of music videos, short films, comedy sketches and vlogs. The most popular one is vlog, which started during late 2011 and has been growing very fast since then.
Unlike other types of entertainment like music or movies, or even other type of video contents on YouTube where it takes a long time for a new content to be

And yet, no politician has truly utilized the power of YouTube. Since its launch in 2005, YouTube has helped to create and popularize a new form of video: the vlog, or video blog. Vlog creators, also called “vloggers,” sit in front of a camera and speak to their audience directly as if speaking to a friend, helping to create a sense of intimacy and foster trust between the creator and his audience. Vloggers have gained popularity especially with the younger generation.…

In this task I am going to be speaking about and explaining a successful promotional campaign. The campaign I will be speaking about is the ‘whopper sacrifice’. The whopper sacrifice is a Burger King advertising campaign on Facebook that promised a coupon for a free hamburger if participants deleted 10 people from their ‘friends’ lists on the social network. I would class a good advertising campaign as: it is aimed at the target audience and uses the most effective medium for them. It should raise the awareness of the business and also increase the public's estimation of its importance. The main message must be the most prominent one, the one that stays in your head. The main types of advertising media are as follows: television, printed (newspaper, magazines etc...), press coverage, billboards, radio, in store, social media, emails and paid searches (i.e. paying google to advertise you on certain searches)…

Advantages: The advantage of market penetration is that it promotes the business to the public and allows it to be widely recognised by a variety of people. Paignton Zoo promotes its business on sites which are widely used every day by the public such as the radio, television. This means that every day there is a chance that a member of the public will hear about the business on the radio or see what they have to offer on the television adverts. By advertising the business on the radio and television, it is important that they do this at peak times where members of the public are most likely to hear or see it. If Paignton Zoo advertised their business when members of the public were less likely to see it, such as 4ᵒ’clock in the morning or very late at night, more people will be unaware of the business and what it has to offer and therefore would have less people visiting.…

On September 27, 2010, AirTran Airways made a public announcement that they entered into agreement allowing Southwest Airlines to acquire them. Numerous entities report the reasons behind the acquisition are: to make Southwest a dominant competitor in the airline industry, “Southwest is following the trend in the industry: merge or acquire in order to stay alive and competitive” (Mouawad, 2010). In addition, the acquisition would allow Southwest to mark its presence in markets they were previously unable to penetrate, “The deal would expand Southwest’s…

Hi. I'm Kevin Allocca, I'm the trends manager at YouTube, and I professionally watch YouTube videos. It's true. So we're going to talk a little bit today about how videos go viraland then why that even matters. We all want to be stars -- celebrities, singers, comedians --and when I was younger, that seemed so very, very hard to do. But now Web video has made it so that any of us or any of the creative things that we do can become completely famous in a part of our world's culture. Any one of you could be famous on the Internet by next Saturday. But there are over 48 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute. And of that, only a tiny percentage ever goes viral and gets tons of views and becomes a cultural moment. So how does it happen? Three things: tastemakers, communities of participationand unexpectedness. All right, let's go.…

In a competitive market, where the competition has a major share, it becomes important for the company to generate loyalty among the outlets for its own products and also to increase its presence among the outlets who stock solely the competitor's products. The main period for sales of beverages is from the beginning of March to the end of May. This is the period during which the retailers are willing to stock fast moving products such as beverages. Therefore the retailers can be targeted to stock the company products by a sales promotion program. The program will also function as a vehicle for market penetration.…

While everyone can create and share videos on YouTube, those who have been doing it systematically for a long time and have gained a certain degree of popularity from it are called youtubers. These are the people that more methodically adhere to the classic YouTube sign off convention, as well as sharing other YouTube distinctive codes such as the use of gifs and memes and an opening sequence or intro. As YouTube personalities, youtubers have a wide number of subscribers, usually over one million, which allows them to sustain themselves economically thanks to the monetization of their videos, effectively making that of youtuber a career. They are also the specific type of YouTube user that I have included in my video essay since I believe that, as opinion leaders and major content creators, youtubers best represent and shape YouTube culture thanks to the high degree of visibility of their videos. While limiting my work to youtubers only, I still made an effort to be as diverse as possible in the way I chose the featured youtubers: the only significant limitation posed to my investigation was that the videos had to be in English, but I was still able to include people of different ethnicity, race, sex, and nationality. Even if most of the YouTube personalities featured in my video essay are American, others come from UK,…

At first, it was personal clips that they were using with their friends, including the first ever YouTube video ever uploaded which was a nineteen second description of elephants at the San Diego zoo, and then the viral nature of what they created, the easy to use features, the ways that people could grab links and embed these videos directly into their blogs and websites, it spread rapidly as more and more people began to see the benefit of using YouTube.…

YouTube is an online database of videos where users can upload, view and share videos. As mentioned, YouTube is one of the largest databases, with over 1 billion unique users visiting every month and one hour of video uploaded every second. YouTube has revolutionised the world – you only need to be connected to the internet to watch and share videos. Before YouTube was invented you had to share via a USB, or upload to a file sharing website.
