INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background.

As the technologies are developing, so are the Internet applications becoming popular. Online Banking (or sometimes known as e-banking) is one such Internet application. Bankers are now offering innovative and attractive technology-based services and products such as ‘Any time and anywhere banking’, ‘Internet Banking’, ‘Tele Banking’ etc. to the customers to cope with competition.
Online Banking was first introduced in India by ICICI Bank in 1996. There after many other banks like UTI, HDFC, IndusInd Bank, IDBI etc. followed the footsteps. As today private and public banks have started capturing the market through online-banking hence “the competition is heating up and lack of technology can make loose a customer.” Online banking is a system which has been developed to cater the daily needs of a basic man. The system provides both transactional and non-transactional features. It helps the customer to conduct a secured transaction operated by retail or virtual bank. The benefits of online banking ( easy to use, fast, cost saving) makes it so popular among the customers and internet users around the world. Online banking has changed the way how the traditional banking industry interacts with banking customers. There is no doubt online banking is one of the best and most sensitive task performed by the Internet user. Although the banks have encouraged their customer to use online banking and advertise strongly on their safety, apparent this is not true. Online banking is a popular choice among people preferring convenience and flexibility.

1.2 A Brief Overview Of Literature:

Internet revolution is a growing phenomenon and going by the current statistics, India expects a spurt in the
